The poker world lost a true legend in April 2015 when David “Devilfish” Ulliott lost his battle with cancer, leaving behind wife Anpaktita and his eight children Kerry, Lucy, Paul, David, Chris, Steven, Mike and Matthew.
In October 2016, partypoker and Dusk Till Dawn joined forced to create a high stakes poker tournament in Ulliott’s honour, namely “The Devilfish Cup,” which saw 204 players buy in for £5,000 plus a £300 donation and compete for a share of a £1 million guaranteed prizepool. The £300 donations, taken in lieu of rake, and three percent of the prize pool, was shared among the Marie Currie cancer charity and a trust fund for Ulliott’s children.
Anpaktita Ulliott, the poker star’s late wife, handed the winner’s trophy, a special edition guitar signed by rock legend Brian May, to professional poker player Lucas Blanco Oliver.

Tom Waters, Simon Trumper and Jane Waterhouse
A total of £93,000 was raised during the Devilfish Cup so Managing Director of partypoker Tom Waters and Dusk Till Dawn’s Simon Trumper handed a cheque for £46,500 to Jane Waterhouse, Head of Community Fundraising at Marie Curie.
Waters said: “Rob Yong, owner of Dusk Till Dawn visited Dave during his last few days and asked him how he wanted to be remembered. He asked for us to hold a high stakes poker tournament. It was amazing to see players travel from all over the world to honour such a well-respected person within the poker industry and raise such a fantastic amount of money to a cause that in the end meant a lot to him and all of us at partypoker and Dusk Till Dawn.”
Waterhouse said: “We’d like to thank Dusk Till Dawn Poker Club, partypoker and all involved in the Devilfish Cup for their incredible donation; we are honoured to have been chosen as the beneficiaries of this very special tournament. Through their support, Marie Curie will be able to provide more free care and support to people living with a terminal illness, and their loved ones.”
