It is not unusual for a Director of a movie to film more than one ending to keep the final scenes a secret from prying eyes. It is the drama, suspense and the sense of the unknown that keeps us enthralled after all. The WPT at Vienna is a story unto itself and we too have a series of endings. As with every good story we are not sure which ending to select just yet. Instead we prefer to keep the drama, suspense and the sense of the unknown rolling for a few more days.

Could it be two consecutive WPT wins for the Italian Alesso Isaia? His last WPT appearance was a few short months ago in Venice when he triumphed after the longest heads up battle in WPT history. Isaia currently has 258,000 chips to take into battle on Day 3.

In between WPT Venice and WPT Vienna came the WPT National Series at the Aviation Club de France (ACF). The victor that night was Natalia Nikitina and although she was dispatched early here in Vienna her partner Maxsim Kolosov will return on Day 3 with 325,000. Will back-to-back wins for partners be our final ending?

Could Alexander Kuzmin win it and add this title to his last live cash when he took home the WPT Southern Poker Championship, Biloxi for $575,969. The win would catapult him into the number one spot on the WPT Player of the Year board. Kuzmin returns on Day 3 with 825,000 chips.

Could Pascal Lefrancois add a WPT bracelet to the WSOP bracelet he has on display at home and complete two thirds of the coveted triple crown? The Canadian will return on Day 3 with 870,000 chips.

Or could it be a good old-fashioned fairytale? Simon Ravnsbaek is no stranger to the live poker scene but he qualified for this event playing online at Party Poker. Ravnsbaek once again proving the importance of having a solid online game when it comes to reducing your outlay on these Main Event entry fees.

Who knows how the ending will turn out and we wouldn’t be able to predict it if we tried – after all this is poker!. But for now we will settle for the fairytale and congratulate Simon Ravnsbaek for besting today’s field of 260 players. He will return tomorrow with 1,194,000 chips with dreams of filming a WPT happy ending.

Please make sure you join us and the 35 remaining players at 13:00 (CET) tomorrow for the best live reports in the business.
