The best way to describe the WPT National Series in Paris is compact and bijou. The Aviation Club de France (ACF) is a small venue full of atmosphere and can only hold 100 players per day. 91 players started day 1a and 97 started day1b giving us a total of 188 players. Only 37 survived day 1a and 51 survived day 1b giving us a starting field of 88 players on day two.

The tournament director told the field that the plan was to play until the end of level 14 or until we reached 27 players. In the end we stopped at the end of level 14 with still 31 players remaining.

Guillaume Darcourt started the day as the chip leader but he couldn’t maintain the flow he had picked up on day 1a and he was eliminated during the day. The day 1b chip leader was Yacoub Dori. Dori is no stranger to the big game and has two six figure scores to his name playing in high roller events in and around Europe. Dori had a more successful day than Darcourt finishing 7th place overall.

Tobias Wagner and Sam Trickett were also at the top of the leader board going into day two. Wagner finished the day in 3rd place and not far behind him was Trickett in 6th. Trickett who has had quite a memorable few months down under has obviously kicked off his jet lag here in Paris.

We started the competition with 12 people who had qualified online at Party Poker. Four of them started the day but only one of them finished it. Ingo Paulus, the last remaining Party Poker Qualifier and he will return for day 3 with 80,500 chips.

The man looking down on everyone else is Nichlas Mattson from Sweden. He started the day with 93,400 chips and ended the day with 319,500 just ahead of Benjamin Pollak.

So please make sure you join us tomorrow at 15:00 (CET) for day 3 of the WPT National Series in Paris.
