Good level for
Jason Mercier – After doubling through Jennifer Tilly at the end of the level, Jason Mercier is now the chip leader!
Phil Laak – The Unabomber knocked out Talal Shakerchi to keep his Premier League hopes alive.
Bad level for
Igor Kurganov – Having busted out in eighth place and earning no points, Igor Kurganov ‘s Premier League has come to an abrupt end. Kurganov will finish bottom of the group regardless of other results.
Talal Shakerchi – Phil Laak called a 154,000 shove from Talal Shakerchi with and beat Shakerchi’s when the board ran out .
Jennifer Tilly – On the last hand of the level, Jennifer Tilly lost a huge pot to Jason Mercier. (see below).
Hand of the level
Talal Shakerchi opened to 14,000 with and found callers in the shape of Tobias Reinkemeier and Jason Mercier . Igor Kurganov squeezed all in for 207,000 with and only Reinkemeier called, although Mercier tanked for two minutes before releasing his hand.
The final board ran out to send Kurganov to the rail in the search for a bagel!
Also, Tilly was crippled by Jason Mercier.
The pot was opened by Tony G, the Australian bringing it in for a min-raise with , Tobias Reinkemeier flat called with , “wow this is all going in,” said Sam Trickett. The commentators weren’t on about the hole cards of those two players, they could see the cards of those still to act. One of those was Jason Mercier, he peaked down at pocket kings and three-bet to 47,000. “This is something like his fifth three-bet in 25 hands,” said Phill Hellmuth. To his immediate left Jennifer Tilly woke up with , she moved all-in for 340,000 and when it folded back to Mercier he snap called.
The board ran and despite Jennifer Tilly’s shouts for a Barry Greenstein she is now down to just 32,000. If she goes out next there’s a permutation where she could be out of the Premier League. Jason Mercier meanwhile is up to 654,000.
View from the booth
“They’re friends but they’re not afraid of barrelling off against each other.” – Sam Trickett on Igor Kurganov and Tobias Reinkemeier.
“If this was a £1k rebuy at his local casino Mercier would call here!” – claimed Sam Trickett when Jason Mercier was tanking on Igor Kurganov’s exit hand.
