We’re making poker players’ dreams come true at partypoker thanks to sending some of them to play in the WPT500 at Aria in Las Vegas.

Recently, Charles Martel won a $6,000 package as part of our Kings of Vegas promotion while Tom Kugelstadt secured a Las Vegas trip of a lifetime as part of a special promotion run at the partypoker Grand Prix Million at Dusk Till Dawn. Their stories are below.

Charles has been playing poker on and off for the past 10 years, usually in small friendly games, but he lost his job two months ago and decided to use the unforeseen opportunity to take his poker more seriously.

“I lost my job two months ago and I decided to give poker a second try,” Charles told the partypoker blog, “On my second day of playing, I came fifth in the $25,000 guaranteed and I’ve been playing ever since.”

Amazingly, Charles has actually won two Las Vegas packages, one worth $2,000 that he qualified via a $100 buy-in final and then secured a $6,000 package in the Kings of Vegas weekly final. Charles seems to have a knack for winning these packages and is quietly confident about making his first trip to the place affectionately known as Sin City.

“I’m very excited to plat at the WPT500, it’s going to be first major live tournament and I can’t wait to see the atmosphere and gameplay of others in such a big event.”

Joining Charles on his first trip to Las Vegas is a friend he met at his daughter’s school. Their girls are friends and that led to their friendship blossoming. Thankfully, Charles’ friend is a good player so they could be returning home with plenty of dollars to keep them company.

Both Charles and his friend have decided to take the option of playing two starting flights instead of going on one of the fantastic excursions in an attempt to make it into the money places on Day 2.

“I hope both my buddy and I will be able to reach the payouts of the tournament. We’re both going to try two start days so we may play a little crazy on the first day, it will be interesting for sure!”

Charles has the partypoker mobile app to partly thanks for his $6,000 Kings of Vegas package because without it he may have had to sit out of the tournament due to a family gathering.

“I had to finish the tournament on my phone because my family and I were heading to the grandparents’ house to celebrate my son’s birthday. When I finally finished in the top five places (ad therefore won a package) I stood up and screamed I’M THE KING OF VEGAS! It was nice to have all of the family there when I won, it was an awesome day!”

We’ll be looking out for Charles in the chip counts and hopefully at the final table of the $2 million guaranteed WPT500 at Aria.

Another player heading to Las Vegas courtesy of partypoker is Tom Kugelstadt. Tom was one of more than 7,000 players to play in the recent partypoker Grand Prix Million at Dusk Till Dawn (DTD) where we ran a special promotion for player who were playing at DTD and online at partypoker simultaneously.
More than 100 players took part in the competition and Tom’s name was selected at random from those entries, much to his and his mother’s delight.

Tom’s family moved to Dallas, Texas from the UK but Tom opted to remain on home soil. His mother had travelled to the UK and was playing in the $1 million guaranteed spectacular and was doing better than her son, having made it through to Day 2 while Tom has bust. Now they’re both heading to Las Vegas for a poker trip of a lifetime after Tom decided to take his mother with him as part o his free $6,000 package.

We caught up with Tom and his mother shortly after they discovered they’d won this amazing prize.

What do you think of the Kings of Vegas promotion? What did you love and what would you change about it? We’d love to hear your feedback in the comments box below.
