It’s all about the fairer sex this weekend as the second annual PartyPoker.com Women’s World Open takes centre stage in London.
That means it’s ladies’ nights all the way until October 6 as the finest female players and some famous faces from around the globe compete for a share of the $108,000 prize-pool and target the $50,000 winner’s cheque.
With 36 players sitting down for the action, we’re looking forward to an exciting tournament which promises to reflect the varied group of talented participants. We have the Dutch television presenter and pop star Maud Mulder:
Maud is used to picking up cheques for $50,000, having been victorious at the PartyPoker Dutch Open last year, although she started as a celebrity outsider; Maud came 2nd in the Dutch version of Pop Idol and will no doubt be looking to tune in to the big money.
Agnieszka Rylik, a Polish television presenter and champion boxer is also taking part:
Rylik busted Devilfish and Joe Beevers in the last series of Late Night Poker and one was of the last people standing in the PartyPoker East versus West Team Cup in Vienna earlier this year when she was a part of Tony G’s team. She’s no stranger to international success – having won 4 World Championships and 3 Europen Chamionships for kickboxing. Rylik will be looking to last right up until the final bell.
Also in the field are Jen Mason, Maria Demetriou, Xuyen “Bad Girl” Pham, former PartyPoker.com World Open winner Pippa Flanders and former European Ladies champion Jackie Meecham.
Everone around the table will be hoping to emulate Bev Pace, who stormed to victory in last year’s tournament:
Married to British comedian and fellow poker-player Norman Pace for 30 years, Bev will be aiming to retain her crown in this most prestigious of ladies-only poker events.
Good luck to all taking part!
