The 736 starters were reduced to a more manageable 108 over the course of nine Day 1s and these 108 survivors returned to the action at the Macau Sporting Club on December 10 to battle it out for the title.

Team partypoker member Natalia Breviglieri was flying high during Day 2 and held the chip lead when there were only 49 players remaining. A brief and deadly period of bad luck saw our heroine crash out in 40th place for €375.

By the time the eight-handed final table was reached, the least anyone was taking home was €1,500. Andrew Casey won this sum and he was followed to the sidelines, then the cashier’s desk, by Gastao Silva, and Michal Muzykant.

Stephen Fiddas bust in fifth-place when he found himself all-in with on a board against John Power. Unfortunately for Fiddas, Power held and was a lock to win.

Grand Prix Cork: A Done Deal

With only four players remaining, the clock was paused and the players agreed to a deal that took some prize money off the top prize and distributed to the third and fourth-place finishers. This worked out perfect for Roger Harman who fell in fourth-place when his couldn’t get there against Aubrey Murnaghan’s .

Murnaghan crashed out soon after when his lost to the of Power when the board ran . Power and Wilhemine Connolly were heads up and agreed to a second deal that secured €10,000 each and left €2,000 and the trophy for the eventual champion.

That champion turned out to be Power after a cooler of a hand. All of the chips went into the middle on a board, Power held and Connolly . Connolly had the nut flush but needed to avoid the board pairing to take what would have been a commanding lead. The dealer burned a card before putting the onto the river, improving Power to a full house and busting Connolly in second place.

It was a phenomenal performance by Connolly who fell shy of becoming the tour’s first female champion. If her name rings a bell it is because only last week she finished seventh in the Fitzwilliam Poker Championships Main Event for €3,000. No doubt Connolly will be trying her luck in a partypoker LIVE event in the future.
