Jan Larsen is probably not a name that rings many bells among poker players, but despite this he has still managed to have his name written on the poker map with three cashes in three attempts.
The Bramming resident Dane, has since 2011 qualified online for the WPT Prague, Dublin and GSOP Greece. And of course many others did, but Jan’s way to the tournaments cost him the total sum of $13.20.
Prague was secured by a $2.20 tournament, and both Dublin and Greece began with a victory in two $5.50 satellites.
And when he cashed respectively €7,200, €7,040 and €2,870 in the three tournaments, it must be said that his ROI is at the high end.
Quite the taste for the game
Jan has not been resting on his laurels. Over the last 3-4 years, as his results have started to emerge, he’s developed a taste for the game.
Jan would like to spend more time online, but since he is the father of two children one of 14 months and another of 5 years, then this part of his life requires time. “It doesn’t help matters that I have an angry wife”, he says with a broad smile and hastens to add: “But when I just come home with money it’s ok.”
So far poker is just a passionate hobby, but Jan dreams of being able to live on it someday. Unfortunately he was hit by muscular dystrophy in 2003, which has taken its toll eventually. When he plays at live tournaments, he requires a special chair that can be raised and lowered.
WPT National Series
Most recently, he played with the WPT National Series in Vejle, by winning a seat in a satellite at the casino. However, he didn’t manage to make it to the cash this time around.
