What is better than winning almost $52,000 from a $109 buy-in tournament? Winning almost $52,000 and a $25,000 Vegas package from your $109 investment, which is exactly what Ian “Simpioni” Simpson did on June 6 when he won the $400,000 guaranteed Grand Prix Poker Tour Online leg.

Place Player Prize
1 Ian “Simpioni” Simpson $51,891
2 Bebo1234 $31,691
3 Jack “LUMBERJ4CK85” Ellwood $20,091
4 ld3f1x89 $13,891
5 Spondu1icks $10,341
6 LIKE_A_G6 $7,991
7 fontainerot $6,391
8 strangejelly $5,091
9 davegeordie2 $3,991

A staggering 3,892 players took part in the GPPT Online leg, with 400 of those receiving prize money for the substantial effort. A min-cash weighed in at $221, a final table appearance was worth $3,991, and the champion banked $51,891. All players who made it into the money places also collected a $109 ticket to a future GPPT event.

“davegeordie2” was the first casualty of the final table before “strangejelly,” “fontainerot” and “LIKE_A_G6” crashed out to leave five players in the hunt for the title. Fifth-place was the first to award a five-figure score, $10,431 to be exact, the sum now nestled in the partypoker account of “Spondu1icks.”

When “ld3f1x89” bust in fourth place, the final three players each qualified for the $25,000 Vegas Package bonus thrown into the mix to make the tournament even greater value.

The talented Jack “LUMBERJ4CK85” Ellwood fell in third place, leaving “Beb1234” and Simpson to battle heads-up in what was essentially a $45,200 heads-up match because of the difference in prize money and the added $25,000 package.

Eventually, Simpson despatched “Bebo1234” to the sidelines, banking the $51,891 first place prize and a ridiculous $25,000 Las Vegas package to boot. This awesome package awards Simpson:

  • $10,000 in buy-ins
  • First class return flights from the UK to Las Vegas
  • A luxury suite to stay in while in Sin City

You’ll be hard stretched to find similar value anywhere in the online poker world!
