Jesse May

Marvin Rettenmaier may still have a chance to pull it off, at least Jesse May is hoping so. If you’ve been keeping tabs on the Bluff Player of Year 2012 Ranks then you’ll have to agree that PartyPoker’s very own Marvin has had one heck of a 2012. Winning unheard of back to back WPT events along the way, earning some pretty impressive results and arguably benefiting from a few nice pay days along the way.

Those Who Know Marvin Say…

Now a few months ago one of the nicest guys you’re ever likely to meet in the industry; Lance Bradley of Bluff Magazine told me his thoughts on Marvin:

“Marvin’s been one of poker’s best kept secrets the past few years but I think the cat is out of the bag now. The guy can play. He’s gone from being in the mix in smaller buy-in live tournaments to winning the World Poker Tour championship and being a threat for BLUFF Player of the Year every year. It should serve as a shining example to those that dream of turning pro that getting to that point is a grind . It’s not easy, but hard work and dedication to your craft can pay off handsomely.”

So I bet you’re asking where did it all go wrong?

To Victory?

It was all going swimmingly for MadMarv right? With results like that, he could just sit back, take it easy and cruise to the finish line happy in the knowledge that 2012 would be his year, fair enough? Nope, wrong ohh so wrong….you see the road can be a tough place with a few wild antics reminiscent of a popular John Candy and Steve Martin film that ever so evil proverbial spanner decided to throw itself into the works causing popular poker player Dan Smith to take the lead.

Is It All Over For Marvin?

And with a delayed flight here, a missed event there you could have thought it was all over for our guy Marv. However with quite literally a couple of weeks to go he may have snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, after a fine finish at the EPT High Roller it’s pretty much on the cards that Rettenmaier will take another title! [insert your choice of dramatic chase scene music here]….

But Now Jesse May Wants Him OUT!

Now believe me when I say this there’s one guy who really hopes he’s taking that title home and staying the heck home. Jesse May unfortunately invited Marvin around for a party at his house, what he didn’t know was Marvin liked the place so much he decided to move in….

It would seem that both Jesse May and Marvin Rettenmaier were unavailable for comment after this story. So we’ll leave that bit to you, should Jesse just let him stay? Should Marv get his own place and barber? Let us know in the comments below and remember to follow us on Twitter for more poker greatness.
