Amateur poker players around the world are rejoicing after hearing the news of the massive World Championships Of Amateur Poker (WCOAP) taking place online at partypoker. APAT and partypoker have joined forces to produce a bustling schedule of tournaments with combined guarantees in excess of $750,000!
The Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT) created the UK’s first national poker tour back in 2006 and has since gone from strength to strength. APAT, like partypoker, is dedicated to the development of amateur poker players. It does this by providing affordable tournaments and festivals with excellent structures that enable its army of members to enhance their poker skills in a competitive yet fun environment.
Each event on the upcoming WCOAP festival is only open to non-professional players and all are played as a freezeout and with limited late registration to ensure a completely level playing field across the board. Ensure you make the most of your one and only bullet!
WCOAP Opens In Style
The APAT WCOAP kicks off on January 24 with the 6-Max Championship, a $55 buy-in event with a cool $75,000 guaranteed prize pool. Everyone sits down with a generous helping of 50,000 starting chips before getting down to business to blinds starting at 250/500/50a. Those blinds increase every 15-minutes.
Late registration is open for 10 levels and the blinds at this stage are still only 800/1,600/200a, showing how phenomenal the WCOAP structures are; they wouldn’t look out of place in a tournament 100-times the size.
There is also a Mini 6-Max Knockout running alongside it that only costs $5.50. Don’t think entering the lower buy-in WCOAP event means you’re missing out because the structures are almost identical, with the only difference being the blinds increase every 14-minutes instead of 15.
Championship and Mini Events Run Side By Side
It’s a theme that continues through the WCOAP right through to the Main Event on February 7 with each Championship Event having a Mini edition running alongside it.
The Main Event, the 16th and final WCOAP tournament, commands a $109 buy-in but has $150,000 guaranteed to be won! Again, the structure is such that you don’t have to worry about making a mistake and being on the ropes for the rest of the tournament.
Those entering the $11 buy-in WCOAP Mini Main Event get to play for a slice of a prize pool guaranteed to be at least $20,000.
Medals and Championship Bracelets
Anyone who has played an APAT event before will know everyone wanted to finish in the top three places because they received a special medal to commemorate their efforts. Those medals return for the WCOAP.
Simply finish in the top three places in any WCOAP Championship event and you’ll receive a gold, silver, or bronze medal in addition to your prize money. Furthermore, the winner of each Championship event secures a Championship bracelet, while the 2021 WCOAP Main Event champion gets their hands (or should that be wrist) on a specially commissioned bracelet! They are something to cherish and something every APAT player wants on their mantelpiece.
Only APAT members can win these amazing bracelet and medal so be sure to create your free APAT account before playing in any of the events.
Medals and bracelets are only awarded in the WCOAP Championship Events. The Mini WCOAP Events do not award bracelets or medals.
WCOAP Player of the Series Leaderboard
You’re going to want to play as many WCOAP events as you can but not only because the tournaments are fantastic and fun, but also because you earn points or the Player of the Series Leaderboard.
The player deemed to be WCOAP Player of the Series walks away with a free MILLIONS Main Event seat worth $5,000! Those finishing in second-place through 10th win a $55 MILLIONS Online ticket for their efforts.
There’s even a leaderboard for the WCOAP Mini Player of the Series. The winner bags a $1,100 MILLIONS Mini Online seat with second-place through 10th netting a $55 ticket.
Like the medals and bracelets, these incredible prizes are only open to APAT members so make sure you register for your free APAT account and get involved with this vibrant, supportive community.
