We knew from the start that the field of poker fans would be large, but we just realized that was what’s technically termed as a “massive understatement” other words we should have used could be massive, mammoth even gargantuan…
With the numbers all tallied and double checked we saw 1229!!! entrants taking their shot at the title. And incredibly this is the 2nd largest event in WPT history ever.
Who’s on First?
Well funny enough it was the same venue the 2011 WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open in which our very own Team partypoker player Bobby Oboodi took 1st place.
Countdown…
1229 runners have thinned considerably down, with just 188 players starting Day 3. And they’ll keep up the good fight and continue to battling it out all in the hopes of getting in the money! We’re getting reports that their not stopping until there down to 27.
Champions of the poker table
Local pro Chris Reslock who back in 2007 won a bracelet at the World Series of Poker for the $5,000 Seven Card Stud event, cashing for $258k is just one of many familiar local faces still sitting with chips. Good luck to you all!
And in other news
According to tournament officials, a staggering 1003 entrants all ponied up the cash for the WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Post-Lim 100K Guaranteed Event #21. As we roamed the field, we spotted quite a few familiar faces, including Marguerite Spagnuolo who was playing for what she calls “shoe money”, before she busted when the BB woke up with a hand. AGAIN.
“Good Luck Monger” Frank DiRe has also been spotted, looking focused as !*%#, after losing a large portion of his chips. He’s not in “DiRe” straits, though; and says his plan is to get a bunch of ’em back RIGHT NOW.
