This week saw 1,124 players enter by the time registration ended. Over the next 10 hours, this large crowd of hopefuls were reduced to the nine-handed final table. As play at the final table began, the players lined up as shown in the table below.

partypoker $200K Guaranteed Sunday Final Table Seat Draw (12/01/2014)

Seat Player Chips
1 FergieTime5 421,014
2 pinktacoeater 263,830
3 Pivovich 1,151,585

6 TheMoist 1,423,349
7 SnipeDonkey 232,290
8 Flushd72 240,583
9 HooodFlatter 707,602

Thirteen is deemed by many to be an unlucky number and it was for SnipeDonkey who crashed out of the tournament during the final table’s 13th hand. TheMoist min-raised to 40,000 from middle position with and next to act was SnipeDonkey who had been dealt . SnipeDonkey, down to 14 big blinds, three-bet all-in and TheMoist called. By the river the board read and SnipeDonkey became the final table’s first casualty.

pinktacoeater lost almost all of his stack – he was left with 3.5 big blinds– when his ace-king couldn’t beat the pocket threes of Flushd72. These went into the middle when he was in the big blind with against the of FergieTime5. An eight on the flop of the board was enough to bust pinktacoeater from the tournament and leave only seven players in the running for the title.

Frantic pace continues

The eliminations continued when TheMoist sent Flushd72 for the proverbial early bath. The action folded around to TheMoist on the button and he moved all-in to give the blinds a decision for all of their chips. Flushd72, in the small blind, called off his 339,666 stack with and when HooodFlatter folded in the big blind, TheMoist revealed his hand – . TheMoist paired his king on the flop and his ten on the river to win the hand and resign Flushd72 to seventh place money, or $5,732.40 to be exact.

Next to go, only two hands later, was OneOfTheseDays. Down to slightly less than 10 big blinds and finding under-the-gun, OneOfTheseDays moved all-in and was called by TheMoist and his dominating from two seats across. Neither player improved on the board, TheMoist winning by the virtue of his ace-kicker.

Five-handed play spanned across 62 hands in something of a contrast to the early stages of the finale. With the blinds at 20,000/40,000/4,000a, Pivovich open-pushed for 208,684 from the small blind with and anjali1986 looked him up with . The flop left Pivovich drawing dead, the turn improving anjali1986 to an unnecessary full house. The completed the board and Pivovich was ejected from the tournament.

Four became three with the elimination of HooodFlatter. Anjali1986 min-raised to 80,000 from the button, HooodFlatter called and the duo saw the first three community cards run out . HooodFlatter initially checked and then check-raised all-in for 469,600 when anjali1986 continued with a 62,750 bet. HoodFlatter showed and was crushed by anjali1986’s . The turn was no help and the quad-completing on the river served only to rub HoodFlatter’s face in it.

FergieTime5 Sent to the Rail

The last remaining three players locked horns for a few orbits before the talented Swede FergieTime5 got unlucky to crash out in third place. FergieTie5’s min-raise to 100,000 from the button was three-bet all-in by TheMoist in the big blind, a bet that FergieTime5 wasted little time in calling. FergieTime5’s was better than the in TheMoist’s hand preflop and it stayed best on the flop. TheMoist went from being a 79% underdog to being a 95% favourite when the landed on the turn because FergieTime5 could only hit an ace or face elimination. And eliminated he was as the splashed down on the river to take the tournament to the heads-up stage.

Honours were almost even going into heads-up, anjali1986 leading TheMoist by 2,987,565 to 2,641,435 chips, but that all changed on the first hand of the one-on-one battle when anjali1986 check-called with on all three streets of the board, to win a pot of more than one million chips thanks to TheMoist being coolered with his .

Anjali1986 managed to pull away and soon ended the contest. The final hand saw TheMoist move all-in for 411,421 in total – blinds 30,000/60,000/6,000a – with and anjali1986 calling with . TheMoist improved to trip nines on the board, but the eagle-eyed among you will no doubt realise that anjali1986’s hand improved to a flush to win the hand and this week’s edition of the partypoker $200K Guaranteed Sunday.
