As expected, Day 1c of the 2014 partypoker WPT Montreal Main Event was the busiest of the three starting flights, with 390 players piling through the doors of the welcoming Playground Poker Club. By the time the curtain came down on proceedings, 171 players still had chips in front of them, but nobody had more chips than Alexi Urli.

Urli had the welcomed problem of trying to fit 290,700 chips into his overnight chip bag, an impressive total that is enough to see him start Sunday 23 November’s Day 2 second in chips overall – only Mike Leah on Day 1b managed to accumulate more chips.

It was a case of third-time lucky for the talented Marc-Andre Ladouceur who had previously busted on the Day 1a and Day 1b but managed to get everything right at the last attempt and ended the night with 205,900 betting tokens and is definitely one to watch for the rest of the tournament now that he’s nicely stacked up.

Other notable s who managed to progressed to Day 2 included Dave “All-American Dave” Swanson (144,600), Antonio Esfandiari (104,200), Xuan Liu (92,400), Chanracy Khun (70,700), Paul Volpe (46,500), Curt Kohlberg (44,000), Timothy Reilly (42,000), recent WPT South Africa champion Dylan Wilkerson (39,600), and Dan Kelly (33,500).

However, it was game over for the likes of Michah Raskin, Keven Stammen, Mike Linster, Ari Engel, Will Failla and Giacomo Fundaro who all busted during Day 1c’s action.
