Day 8 of the $40 million guaranteed POWERFEST took place on Sunday 21st May with the crowning of another 30 champions, including another three winners of a POWERFEST Championship Events.
Those 30 events awarded a cool $5,358,453 in prize money, taking the total prize money paid out to $25,402,267. The player known simply as “simba8787” may have a similar name to the Lion King, but they were the partypoker king on May 13th because simba8787 won two Championship events and walked away with an incredible $337,771!

The POWERFEST #42-SHR: $1M Gtd Championship Event NL Hold’em smashed its guarantee by $240,000 thanks to 248 players buying in for $5,200. This meant an incredible $252,836 awaited the eventual champion
Several members of Team partypoker entered this massive event, but none of them reached the money, sadly. Philipp “Phil_Guissem” Gruissem and Joni “JJouhki” Jouhkimainen came close, falling in 51st and 45th place with 32 places paid.
The least anyone at the eight-handed final table could win was $28,520 and this is the sum awarded to “Hahaha_Owned”. By the time there were only three players remaining, a haul of $130,820 was guaranteed.
“STORTjavlaGL” fell in third-place and banked $130,820. This left “aLiNeNok1617” and “Malakastyle” to lock horns heads-up for the title. There was no deal struck, despite this essentially being a $69,316 heads-up battle, and it was Malakastyle, a UK-based Spaniard, who emerged victorious to claim the $252,836 top prize; the runner-up received $183,520.

POWERFEST #43-HR: $1M Gtd Championship Event NL Hold’em saw 1,776 players enter leaving $112,000 overlay for the entrants to enjoy. “Simba8787” took full advantage of the added cash and walked away with $168,100. This would turn out to be siimba877’s first of two POWERFEST Championship Event victories of the day.
Several Team partypoker members made it into the money places. Richard “RichyDubini” Dubini (168th for $1,450), Joao “joaosimaobh” Simao (166th for $1,450), Joni “JJouhki” Jouhkimainen (109th for $1,750), and Renato “renatonomura” Nomura (73rd for $2,050) being those diamond-sporting in the money players.
“Derek Dumpster” was the first casualty of the final table. They collected $11,400 for their $530 investment. “MonkMode” has enjoyed a solid series to date and added $77,500 to their bankroll by finishing in third-place.
“good-bye-PS” eventually finished in second-place, a finish worth $119,200 which meant simba8787 took home the lion’s share of the prize pool, namely $168,100 plus a custom trophy to commemorate this superb victory.

Anatoly “NL_Profit” Filatov was the sole member of Team partypoker to reach the money places of the POWERFEST #44-HR: $1M Gtd Championship Event PKO NL Hold’em; his 59th placefinish netted the Russian $3,737 in bounties and $1,772 in prize money.
The show, however, belonged to “simba8787” who had earlier taking down the POWERFEST #43-HR: $1M Gtd Championship Event NL Hold’em for $168,100. Simba8787 came out on top of the 1,013-strong field in this $1,050 buy-in PKO event to scoop $87,118 in prize money and an additional $82,553 in bounty payments for a total score of $169,671.
Simba8787 defeated “purelife23” heads-up to leave the runner-up to collect $62,400 from the prize pool and $21,997 worth of bounty payments.
