The 2021 WPT World Online Championships (WPTWOC) continued over the weekend with Day 1A and Day 1B of the Omaha Championship, plus the Mini and Micro editions, complementing the Opener and Mini Opener.
It is fair to say Swedish players dominated the $2,100 Omaha Championship with four of the top ten calling Sweden home. Furthermore, another Swede tops the chip counts in the Micro Omaha Championship.
Nordkvist Brodin Leads the $2,100 Omaha Championship
Two of the four $2,100 Omaha Championship flights are in the bag and it is Lars Jesper Nordkvist Brodin who is by far the chip leader. Nordkvist Brodin bagged up 2,041,872 chips at the end of his flight and now enjoys a chip lead of almost one million chips over Netherlands’ Tom Vogelsang.
Some 115 players have bought in across Day 1A and Day 1B, but only 17 remain in the hunt for the title of champion. Day 1C commences at 16:05 BST on August 23 with a turbo-structured flight scheduled for 18:00 BST also on August 23. The partypoker Twitch channel is streaming the action of the final day from 20:30 BST on August 23.
Several Swedish superstars will keep Nordkvist Brodin company on Day 2. Bengt Sonnert and Kristoffer Jakobsson return to the action with 1,007,141 and 994,495 chips respectively, while Anton Suarez has 526,692 chips at his disposal. You may recall Suarez won the 2020 MILLIONS UK Main Event in January 2020 for a cool $1 million.
Niklas Astedt is also through to Day 2 but he is the tournament’s shortest stack right now with 164,210 chips.

Nguyen Going For the Micro Omaha Championship Win
One of our own tops the chip counts in the $22 Micro Omaha Championship, Manda Nguyen. Nguyen is our Nordic Regional Manager and all that hanging around with PLO specialists looks to be paying off!
Nguyen has 2,589,747 chips, enough to propel her to the top of the chip counts with Day 1C (16:05 BST) and the turbo flight (18:00 BST) remaining. Germany’s Daniel Carmona Steinhauer is Nguyen’s nearest rival courtesy of his 2,212,886 stack; Steinhauer is the only other player to bag up more than two million chips.
Good luck to Nguyen and the rest of the 84 players who are currently through to the final day’s action.
