The 2022 Grand Prix UK Main Event concluded over the weekend, and it was Beihao Wang who is the man who will forever be known as the tournament’s champion. Wang came out on top of a 1,507-strong field to reel in £25,000 of the £146,179 prize pool.

Wang had two recorded live cashes on his Hendon Mob profile before this impressive victory. He cashed in a £200 buy-in tournament in Coventry in May 2022 for £320 before finishing 34th in the recent £150 APAT World Championship of Amateur Poker at Dusk Till Dawn for £400. The £25,000 Wang won for taking down the Grand Prix UK event blows those two results out of the water.

There were plenty of familiar faces among those players who finished in the money places. Steve Jelinek collected £350 for his 81st place finish, James Clark crashed out in 75th place for £350, while Paul Jackson‘s 51st place finish came with £450.

Benjamin Sweetman, who won his way into Day 2 via an online Day 1 at PartyPoker, came unstuck in 28th place for £500, while PartyPoker and DTD regular Richard King collected £600 when his tournament ended in 24th place.

Each of the nine finalists locked in at least four figures for their efforts. Nigel Sroga (£1,500), Curtis Thorpe (£2,000), and Dean Rugg (£2,500) bowed out before an anonymous player fell in sixth place and scooped £3,500.

Timothy Wright‘s elimination in fifth came with £4,500, while Oliver Markham banked £6,500 when he came unstuck in fourth.

Two players wishing to remain anonymous battled alongside Wang for the title. The first mystery player busted in third for £10,000 before Wang defeated the second Anon grinder to get his hands on £25,000, resigning the runner-up to a £16,229 consolation prize.
