Ask any budding poker player what their ultimate dream would be and for many it would be to ditch their day job and become a professional poker player. For others it would be to win a World Series of Poker bracelet. Scott Shelley has done both.
Rewind to 2010 and Shelley was working as a customer service representative at PKR but he was still an avid poker player. He and his former colleagues ran a staff tournament where the winner was bought into the £1,000 No Limit Hold’em vent at the 2010 World Series of Poker Europe, which was held in London at the time.
To cut a week long story short, Shelley went on to outlast the 582 crowd to win his first WSOP bracelet and in doing so stopped J.P. Kelly from winning back-to-back titles. Shelly won £133,857 for his victory and a place in poker’s history books.
Since that fateful day, Shelley has been a sponsored pro and is a regular on the UK circuit. He also has a cash in the WPT National Dublin tournament and would be a good bet to add a London cash here by the time this event is done and dusted.
Shelley currently has 25,300 chips.
