The $30M Gtd POWERFEST got off to a flying start on Sunday 31st March with 25 events completed and almost $4.3 million awarded across those 25 events.
Canada’s “DeanMalenko” was the biggest winner on Day 1, courtesy of taking down the $5,200 buy-in Super High Roller for more than $162,000. Let’s take a look at the Low, Mid and High POWERFEST events that enjoyed the largest prize pools.

A massive $705,000 prize pool was created when 141 players bought into the $5,200 buy-in Powerfest #03-SHR: $500K Gtd 8-Max event and this princely sum was shared among the top 20 finishers.
By the time the eight-handed final table was set, the least anyone could take home was $21,150, the sum awarded to former Big Game champion “TIMEXCNT” of Canada.
The United Kingdom’s “Equilibrium_x” busted in seventh-place for $26,649 and was joined on the rail by Team partypoker’s Joao “joaosimaobh” Simao who collected $33,487 for his impressive run in this event.
Next to fall was “proudflop” in fifth-place for $42,300 before “omgitsgiraf” lost their chips in fourth-place, a result good for $59,925.
Austrian pro “mwhldwn” was the next casualty, their third-place finish netted them $84,600 and set up a heads-up battle between “wildace10” of Hungary and “DeanMalenko” of Canada for the lion’s share of the prize pool.
It was a battle DeanMalenko emerged unscathed from, banking the $162,079, resigning wildace10 to the $116,325 consolation prize.

The biggest Mid event was the Powerfest #04-M: $200K Gtd PKO 8-Max event that saw 3,767 players buy in for $55 and fight it out for a share of $200,000.
We do not get many poker players hailing from Uzbekistan but a player from the emerged victorious from this particular event. “good-bye-PS” was the last player standing and was rewarded with $11,632 from the main prize pool which was boosted with $7,650 worth of bounties, including that of runner-up “SeymourRivers” of the United Kingdom; the Brit banked $11,610 from the main prize pool and $1,430 from the bounty prize pool.
Special mention has to go to fifth-place finisher “scizo20” of Canada who won $3,379 from the main prize pool and an impressive $3,847 worth of scalps! Only the eventual champion won more bounties!

The Powerfest #04-L: $50K Gtd PKO 8-Max attracted a field of 4,377 who all paid $11 for the chance to become a POWERFEST champion. The very nature of tournament poker means only one player can become an event’s winner and that was “S.Bb.” of Brazil whose $11 investment was turned into a combined prize worth $5,711 when bounties are taken into consideration.
S.Bb defeated Hungary’s “cash4nudes” heads-up with the Hungarian walking away with the $3,091 second-place prize plus $272 from the bounty prize pool.
Each of the top five finishers won a four-figure score, including bounties, which is impressive for a low buy-in event. “G1NG3RBR3ADMAN” banked $1,202, “MoveForward” collected $1,695 and third-place for “mrmario66” was worth a combined $2,103.
