Three hundred and seventy nine players exchanged €3,500 for 30,000 tournament chips at the start of the week and each and every one of those 11,370,000 clay discs were claimed as his own by Adrien Allain, the new WPT Amneville Main Event Champion. Allain started the six-handed final table second in chips but did not get off to the best of starts and had lost more than half of his stack in the first couple of hours, but a bit of good fortune saw him double up to 2,000,000 and get himself right back into the thick of things. The hand ...

We started the day with eight hopeful souls all hoping to become the World Poker Tour (WPT) Malta Season X Champion. The Portomaso casino has been an amazing venue and one that players will continue flocking to in the future and the final table set looked stunning. Unfortunately, only six players would be gracing it meaning that our first task of the day was to eliminate two players. The first to be eliminated was Mats Karlson who fell victim to the pocket nines of Tristan Clemencon. Then the final table bubble boy was WPT Bratislava Season IX final tablist Christofer ...
The WPT Grand Prix de Paris and the Aviation Club de France (ACF) will always have a special place in WPT folklore because it was the first event to be hosted by the WPT in Europe. Christer Johansson, David Benyamine, Surinder Sunar, Roland de Wolfe, Christian Grundtvig and Theo Jorgensen have all won the title, but for the first time ever it returns to American soil after Matthew Waxman defeated Hugo Lemaire in only two hands of their heads up encounter. 312 players entered the competition and today we saw the final six fight it out for the first prize of ...
Many of you have asked me about what I think about the WSOP Main Event and November Nine and that we have been living separate lives. Firstly, I have to say that the team at PokerNews did a fantastic job and that they are a credit to the industry. I was also impressed with the fact that the live action was shown on ESPN and think and hope it has done a lot of good for the game. With everything going on at the moment it is great to take the game into the mainstream. I thought Antonio Esfandiari was good in ...

Mike Sexton and the rest of Team PartyPoker held a poker seminar at WSOP 2010 in front of a large audience of PartyPoker qualifiers. Mike gave some advice to the players so here is the full video so even our 2011 qualifiers can be better prepared: Don't be concerned by the size of the tournament Be focused on the table you are playing at Beat the table you are sitting at and you will advance to the next day Don't worry about chip counts - if you have average chips you are in great shape Play conservative early on when blinds are very small Qualify to ...
After 49 hours (they snuck in an extra hour on the end) of cash game fun and frolics, it's Tony G who has emerged as the winner of the Big Game V, the PartyPoker sponsored pro leaving Dusk Till Dawn with a spring in his step and £150,450 in his pocket. Also shining was Jennifer Tilly, underrated by some, but proving this weekend that she's a tigress of the felt with impressive earnings of £66,925. At the other end of the spectrum, DTD Head Honcho Rob Yong (thanks for having us!) suffered the biggest deficit with a very round £50,000 loss, whilst ...
As the players in the final table all grouped together for a pre final table photograph there were smiles all around. As soon as the dealer flicked the first card across the table those smiles vanished and the serious action began. One person who was trying to maintain a happy vibe was Roberto Romanello but he was in a minority of one! It was obvious from the off that the way that Romanello went about his business was not approved by his peers. This gave the room an awkward edge but it was fantastically suspenseful and produced some wonderful spots. It started ...
After flying from Melbourne – Sydney then Hong Kong to London I eventually landed in Venice for the WPT. One of my first missions? An audience with Francesco Totti, Italian football legend – a Roma hero – a man who can walk on water which is very handy when you are in Venice waiting for a water taxi. Totti is like David Beckham in Italy, the place went off when he came in – he had an entourage bigger than P Diddy. I wanted to talk about poker, I wanted to pass on a message from Tony G that he was the real ...
In five years of blogging, never have I encountered a hand as jaw-dropping as this one, but the final of the PartyPoker's World Poker Open has brought a truly remarkable hand that will leave poker fans aghast on the small screen. Watch the Quads Over Quads video with comments from Andrew Robl, Toby Lewis and also Mike Sexton and Jesse May who were in the commentary box: Poker's a tough ol' game that requires tough skin, but Robl's going to need a layer of leather to absorb that one as it'll pray on his mind for a long, long time. Everyone who ...

Day three action of the WPT Bellagio Cup is underway. 353 players have registered for the Bellagio Cup this year, a big success! Last year less than 300 players played this $10,000 event. Very interesting fact about this WPT event is that the deadline for player registration has been extended through the 1st level of Day 3 (1:30pm Tuesday 13th July) to accomodate WSOP Main Event bustouts. Phil always late but surely not this late? Phil Hellmuth announced yesterday via his Twitter account that he will be making his appearance at the last possible moment. This will make it the latest entry to ...
