Peru\u2019s <strong>Diego Ventura<\/strong> has done that. He\u2019s done more, in fact.<\/p>\n<p>Ventura finished Day 1B of the <strong>2020 Caribbean Poker Party Main Event<\/strong> not only as the flight\u2019s chip leader but as the man to catch overall. Kolinkovskyi min-raised to 6,000,000 with <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/ah.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/kd.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> from late position and called off his remaining 70,623,118 when Ramage three-bet all-in from the big blind with <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/qd.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/jh.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\">, a move that surprised our Twitch commentary team. The British pro was nursing a 10-12 big blind stack for a while and unable to find a spot to get his stack in. Such a spot came up when the action folded around to him in the small blind and he looked down at <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/ac.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/4h.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\">. Proudfoot jammed for 33,221,800 and Team partypoker\u2019s <strong>Isaac Haxton<\/strong> called with the dominating <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/ah.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/9d.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\">. The Mexican managed to double with when his ace-queen came from behind to beat the ace-king of Ventura, but any thoughts of victory were soon dashed thanks to a missed draw.<\/p>\n<p>Ramage min-raised under the gun to 7,000,000 with <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/qc.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/qh.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> and Aleksejs Ponakovs made a tight fold in the small blind with <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/ad.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/js.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> before Camosci called in the big blind with <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/6h.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/5h.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\">. The Mexican checked again, Ramage bet again, setting the price to play at 19,250,000. Team partypoker\u2019s Jason Koon commented that Camosci should fold in this spot but he did the opposite and check-raised all-in for 81,568,907. Ramage thought after some deliberation and won the pot when the <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/7d.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> river came into view.<\/p>\n<h2>Short-Handed As First Break Arrives<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_99638\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-99638\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-99638\" src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/46245407842_82f603191e_k-1-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/46245407842_82f603191e_k-1-300x200@2x.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/46245407842_82f603191e_k-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/46245407842_82f603191e_k-1.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-99638\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Grayson Ramage was dominating proceedings<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This left the CPP Main Event with only six players before the first scheduled break, quite the frantic pace.<\/p>\n<p>It took another 45 minutes or so to lose another player, Estonian superstar <strong>Aleksejs Ponakovs<\/strong> being that player. Ponakovs was down to almost exactly 15 big blinds and he called them off with <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/qh.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/jh.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> from the big blind when Ventura set him all-in from the small blind with what turned out to be <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/ah.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/7d.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\">. Ventura won the hand when the five community cards ran <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/2h.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/3c.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/5d.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/9d.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/ac.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> and everyone else locked in a six-figure prize.<\/p>\n<p>Haxton busted a few hands later to leave only four players in the hunt for the title. Ramage opened the betting with a min-raise to 8,000,000 with <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/8d.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/8s.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> and it folded to Haxton in the small blind who was laying in wait with <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/ad.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/kc.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\">. Haxton shipped in his 82,569,224 stack, <strong>Dominykas Mikolaitis<\/strong> folded <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/ac.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/js.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> in the big blind, meaning Haxton only had five outs when Ramage called. Mikolaitis folded pocket sixes, Ventura called with <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/as.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/qs.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> and Ramage let his ace-trey go.<\/p>\n<p>The flop came <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/kh.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/ad.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/5h.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\">, Ventura checked before instantly calling when D\u2019Auteuil committed the rest of his chip. The <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/kd.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> turn gave D\u2019Auteuil more outs to a flush but the river was the <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/4c.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> and he was sent to the showers in fourth place.<\/p>\n<h2>Ramage Leads Going Into Heads-Up<\/h2>\n<p>Heads-up was set when Mikolaitis bowed out in third place. Ventura min-raised to 10,000,000 on the button with <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/as.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/js.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\">, Ramage folded a junk hand before Mikolaitis moved all-in for 20 big blinds with <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/ah.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/9s.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\">. The Lithuanian\u2019s demise was confirmed with by the <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/qs.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/kh.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/th.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/3h.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/6s.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> board.<\/p>\n<p>This left Ventura with a 343,514,572 stack to Ramage\u2019s 690,750,760 going into heads-up.<\/p>\n<p>Ventura managed to draw level after 45-minutes of trading blows with Ramage. Neither player could pull away from the other and it was going to need something out of the ordinary to change that, which is what happened.<\/p>\n<p>Ramage got the preflop betting round underway with a raise to 15,000,000 with <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/qd.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/qh.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> and Ventura defended his big blind with <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/ts.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/8c.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\">. A cooler of a flop came down, one reading <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/8s.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/3c.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/th.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\">. Ventura checked, Ramage continued with a 10,395,000 bet and Ventura check-raised to 33,000,000 with his two pair. Ramage responded with a raise of his own to 75,000,000 which Ventura called.<\/p>\n<p>The <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/2d.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> greeted the players on the turn which failed to alter the course of the hand; both players probably believed their hands were the best. Ventura was first to act and he checked. Ramage bet 111,000,000 into 181,500,000 and was called. The <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/7h.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> river card was met with another check from Ventura.
