The WPT World Online Championships<\/strong><\/a> final week has seen play switch to High Roller and Super High Roller events and boy are they coming thick and fast.<\/p>\n

September 21 saw some gigantic scores awarded at partypoker, including one of $377,100 to Russia\u2019s Artur Martirosian<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Martirosian was one of 38 players to exchange $25,500 for 100,000-chips and a shot at a near $400,000 top prize. Some of the biggest names in poker joined Martirosian but only five others receive a slice of the $1 million prize pool.<\/p>\n

Team partypoker\u2019s Roberto Romanello<\/strong><\/a>, Mikita Badziakouski<\/strong><\/a>, and Isaac Haxton<\/strong><\/a> all busted before the money places. British superstar Stephen Chidwick<\/strong> was the unfortunate soul who burst the money bubble, his seventh-place exit paving the way for a cash of at least $57,400 for the six survivors.<\/p>\n

Pascal Lefrancois<\/strong> and Sam Greenwood<\/strong> were the first pair of players heading for the exits. The Canadians fell in sixth and fifth-place, collecting $57,400 and $69,000 respectively.<\/p>\n

Steve O\u2019Dwyer<\/strong>\u2019s hot form continued following his victory in the $3,200 Heads-Up Championship<\/strong><\/a>. O\u2019Dwyer saw his tournament end in a fourth-place finish worth $93,500, the last prize not to weigh in at six-figures.<\/p>\n

Third-place and $155,000 went to Samuel Vousden<\/strong> who won a $10,300 High Roller at the weekend for $158,100. This left Martirosian and Wiktor Malinowski<\/strong> to play one-on-one for the lion\u2019s share of the remaining prize pool.<\/p>\n

A $129,100 jump in pay would make most of us mere mortals shudder at the thought but not these two Goliaths because they decided not to bother with a deal and just play the tournament out as it was intended.<\/p>\n

This resulted in Martirosian claiming $377,100 for his victory and Malinowski collecting $248,000 for his runner-up finish.<\/p>\n

Ole Schemion<\/strong> emerged from the $10,300 WPT High Roller<\/strong> victoriously and with $158,100 to show for his efforts.<\/p>\n

Schemion outlasted 50 opponents on his way to victory, including David Peters<\/strong> who he locked horns with heads-up and who he resigned to a $109,650 consolation prize.<\/p>\n

Team partypoker\u2019s Roberto Romanello<\/strong><\/a> finished in 10th place and burst the bubble, leaving Pascal Lefrancois<\/strong><\/a> to min-cash for $20,910. Team partypoker\u2019s Isaac Haxton<\/strong> banked the same sum for his eighth-place finish.<\/p>\n

Elias Talvitie<\/strong> and Kahle Burns<\/strong>\u2019 time at the final table was limited and their demise was confirmed in seventh and sixth place. Charlie Godwin<\/strong>\u2019s fifth-place exit netted her $32,895 before Stephen Chidwick<\/strong> and team partypoker\u2019s Mikita Badziakouski<\/strong> fell and scooped $46,410 and $72,420. Badziakouski went on to finish Day 2 of the $25,500 High Roller Championship<\/strong><\/a> as the chip leader.<\/p>\n

This week\u2019s WPT Big Game<\/strong> broke through its $1,000,000 guarantee once again and it as Marius Gierse<\/strong> of Germany who locked up the biggest slice of the $1,003,860 prize pool.<\/p>\n

Gierse reeled in $201,424 after defeating Sweden\u2019s Sven Joakim Andersson<\/strong> heads-up; the Swede won $146,613 for his impressive second-place exit.<\/p>\n

Martirosian, fresh from his $25,500 victory, finished ninth here for an additional $20,880 prize. The points earned from these two results have catapulted Martirosian into first place of the WPT Player of the Championship<\/strong> race. He leap-frogged Scott Margereson<\/strong> who finished fifth in the WPT Big Game for $55,212. That race is seriously hotting up.<\/p>\n

Others who padded their bankrolls with ample sums include Team partypoker\u2019s Isaac Haxton<\/strong> (7th – $32,625), Rok Gostisa<\/strong> (6th – $42,162), Benjamin Rolle<\/strong> (4th – $78,301) and Jan-Eric Schwippert<\/strong> (3rd – $104,602).<\/p>\n

Martirosian now enjoys an 18.25 point lead over Margeson in the race for a free $50,000 cash prize. Two members of Team partypoker, Roberto Romanello and Kristen Bicknell, are in fifth and sixth-place.
