Players lock horns one-on-one in a battle for supremacy. Some players thrive under this intense pressure, others falter. <strong>Steve O\u2019Dwyer<\/strong>, <strong>Stefan Dimitrov<\/strong>, and <strong>Malte Kessler<\/strong> certainly did the former in their respective Heads-Up Championship events.<\/p>\n<h2>WPT Heads-Up Championship: $500K Gtd Final Four<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/the-five-biggest-winners-on-the-partypoker-live-tour.html\"><strong>Steve O\u2019Dwyer<\/strong><\/a> has found himself heads-up in some of the world\u2019s biggest multi-table tournaments so we weren\u2019t surprised to see his name among the 166 entrants in the $<strong>3,200 WPT Heads-Up Championship<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The final 32 finishers received a slice of the $500,000 prize pool, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/romanello-runner-up-as-gostisa-leads-race-for-free-30k.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Rok Gostisa<\/strong><\/a>, WPT Mix-Max champion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/andrey-kotelnikov-wins-mix-max-championship-to-become-a-wptwoc-event-winner.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Andrey Kotelnikov<\/strong><\/a>, <strong>Sylvain Loosli<\/strong>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/steve-odwyer-and-pauli-ayras-secure-huge-poker-masters-scores.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Pauli Ayras<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/B7dGXWTnBtM\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Loosli busted at the hands of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/2020-irish-open-massive-turn-out-for-day-1a-vieira-wins-e2k-high-roller.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong> Joao Vieira<\/strong><\/a> who, in turn, finished in fifth place for $17,500.<\/p>\n<p>Two more superstars managed to navigate their way to the final four but this is where their tournament ended. <strong>Allan Berger<\/strong> of Canada and <strong>Jorma Nuutinen<\/strong> from Finland both collected $40,000.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QLWSQCyTRnw\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Berger&#8217;s hand had Twitch viewers&#8217; jaws dropping. All the chips went in on the river of the <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/ac.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/5s.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/jd.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/8c.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/qs.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> board. Berger held <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/8d.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/8s.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> for a set of eights but O&#8217;Dwyer had a set of his own because he held <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/qh.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/qd.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\">. Ouch!<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Np2Pk4YDbws\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Nuutinen&#8217;s exit hand was a little more straightforward, a coinflip with pocket threes against the ace-queen of <strong>Artem Akhmetvaleyev<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This left O\u2019Dwyer and Russia\u2019s Akhmetvaleyev to fight it out for the title and the event\u2019s $135,000 top prize. <\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fu2SdkAP79c\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Dwyer proved too strong for his Russian opponent and he scooped the lion\u2019s share of the prize money, leaving the second-place finisher to bank $75,000 for their $3,200 investment. Unfortunately for our Brazilian star, Nomura fell in fourth for a $7,000 score. Canada\u2019s <strong>Peter Chien<\/strong> scooped the same sum after losing his semi-final battle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stefan Dimitrov<\/strong> and <strong>Yordan Ivanov<\/strong> clashed in the final of the $320 buy-in event and decided to strike a deal that left $1,000 for the eventual champion. That extra $1,000 is now nestled in the partypoker account of Dimitrov after he defeated his opponent.
