Liliane Figueiredo<\/strong> may be taking the first steps of her poker career but she\u2019s already enjoyed a five-figure prize, a prize she secured from a WPT Second Chance Freeroll<\/strong><\/a> ticket. The Brazilian won a cool $13,153 by finishing third in the $109 6-Max Mini Warm Up<\/strong> event earlier this month, her first shot in a $109 buy-in tournament.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince the beginning of the WPT World Online Championships<\/strong><\/a>, I have been playing $3.30 satellites. These didn\u2019t yield good results but I won a ticket to a Second Chance Freeeroll where I finished ninth and won a $109 ticket,\u201d Liliane told the partypoker blog.<\/p>\n

Playing in her first $109 buy-in event was exciting enough in its own right but the excitement reached fever pitch when Liliane found herself under the spotlight live on Twitch.<\/p>\n

From a Freeroll to Twitch Stardom!<\/h2>\n

\u201cOne of the most memorable moments was when I realised that Team partypoker\u2019s Matthew Staples<\/strong><\/a> was broadcasting our table on Twitch. I was a little apprehensive at first, but when I saw the comments made by Matthew and other people watching I felt very happy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matthew busted in 10th place but Liliane was still going strong. A large section of Matthew\u2019s Twitch followers joined Liliane\u2019s rail, giving her support and pushing her onto what would become her largest-ever tournament score.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce Matthew busted, people started saying they would cheer for me and my confidence increased.\u201d<\/p>\n

Locking Horns With the Game\u2019s Greats<\/h2>\n

Liliane navigated her way to the final table where she was guaranteed to take home no less than $4,373. Her previous best tournament score weighed in at a modest $180. Liliane eventually crashed out in third-place and saw her fledgeling bankroll swell by a massive $13,153, all from a freeroll entry! The only players who outlasted Liliane were Romanian superstar Vlad Darie<\/strong> and fellow Brazilian Felipe Theodoro<\/strong>, the latter securing the title and the $22,717 top prize.<\/p>\n

The Brazilian heroine puts her success down to plenty of studying and watching the likes of Lali Tournier<\/strong> and Pedro Gusma<\/strong> on their respective Twitch streams.<\/p>\n

\u201cUntil playing this 6-Max Warm Up I had only studied full-ring tournaments. The day before playing Day 1 I bought a training course for the early stages of 6-max tournaments. A few hours before playing Day 2, I studied the middle and final stages.\u201d<\/p>\n

That study obviously paid off in the shape of a score worth more than $13,000.<\/p>\n

It is a fantastic start to Liliane\u2019s poker career, which only started last year when her boyfriend, Paulo Eduardo<\/strong>, introduced her to the riles and basic strategy. There\u2019s no doubt in our minds that we\u2019ll be seeing plenty more final tables for Liliane in the future.<\/p>\n
