Marchington excelled on Day 1A on August 22, a flight that saw 445 players take to the partypoker tables. The man who finished seventh in last year\u2019s WSOP Main Event<\/strong> bagged up an impressive 1,765,644 chips at the close of play and it was enough to claim the overall chip lead.<\/p>\n

Our chip leader is better-known for his cash game prowess but he\u2019s no slouch at the tournament tables either. Marchington may be in the enviable position of the top of the chip counts when play resumes at 20:00 CET on August 24 but he\u2019s still got plenty of work to do because some of poker\u2019s legitimate stars are hanging off his coattails.<\/p>\n

UK-based Romanian grinder Alexandru Papazian<\/strong> finished Day 1B second in chips and that where he begins Day 2. Papazian has 1,684,195 chips in his stack, which is bad news for the other players because he knows how to wield a big stack with deadly force. He finished second in the \u20ac1,100 MILLIONS Open<\/strong> in August 2019 for \u20ac105,300 and will be hoping to go one place deeper this time around.<\/p>\n

Liv Boeree<\/p><\/div>\n

The top 10 at the start of Day 2 reads like a who\u2019s who of world poker. Liv Boeree<\/strong>, who put together a deep run in the WPT Shooting Stars for Charity<\/strong><\/a> event, has 1,634,98 chips, enough for fourth-place at the restart.<\/p>\n

Kahle Burns<\/strong><\/a> has been in hot for the best part of two years. The Mexico-based Australian sit back down with 1,503,985 chips. Burns won a $10,300 High Roller<\/strong> event on August 23 and padded his bankroll with $85,000. He\u2019s now definitely in the running for another six-figure prize.<\/p>\n

Four-time WSOP bracelet winner Dominik Nitsche<\/strong><\/a> finds himself in 10th place when the cards are back in the air. Nitsche has crushed live and online poker since the start of his career a decade ago and is now poised to make yet another deep run in a major tournament.<\/p>\n

While the players mentioned find themselves in the top 10 going into Day 2, there are some exceptionally talented players among the remaining players.<\/p>\n

The likes of Samuel Vousden<\/strong> (1,348,214), Timothy Adams<\/strong> (1,251,999), Steve O\u2019Dwyer<\/strong> (1,167,622), and Harry Lodge<\/strong> (1,137,152). As does reigning MILLIONS Online champion Benjamin Chalot<\/strong><\/a> (1,024,981).<\/p>\n

Other notables to cast your eye over include, Martin Jacobson<\/strong> (901,812), Knockout Championship runner-up Manig Loeser<\/strong><\/a> (893,422), Dan Smith<\/strong> (884,484), Mike Watson<\/strong> (841,100), Maria Ho<\/strong> (840,422), Ali Imsirovic<\/strong> (557,323), Mark Radoja<\/strong> (420,983), and Matas Cimbolas<\/strong> (232,177).<\/p>\n

Eight of the returning pack will go home empty-handed as only the top 132 finishers receive a slice of the $3 million pie. A min-cash is worth $6,489 with a final table appearance locking up $69,300. The champion, whoever that shall be, walks away with $488,508 and a free entry to the Tournament of Champions<\/strong>, complete with flights and accommodation, worth $15,000!<\/p>\n
