Why? Because it is one of the most stacked fields the game has ever seen.

Day 1A attracted 457 players and only 57 of those punched their Day 2 tickets at the first attempt. A trio of Team partypoker members got the job done and progressed. Renato Nomura (531,876 chips), Kristen Bicknell (585,429), and Dzmitry Urbanovich (1,111,426) made it safely through to Day 2.

Chance Kornuth earned the title of Day 1A chip leader courtesy of accumulating 2,520,484 chips. Kornuth goes into Day 2 with a $9,937 bounty in tow, making him a very attractive target when play resumes.

Santiago Plante was the only other Day 1A player to finish the flight with more than two million chips. The Canadian bagged up 2,094,228 and sits back down with a $5,812 bounty.

Other players to look out for from the first of the two flights include Ireland’s Mark Davies (1,583,429), Parker Talbot (1,155,899), Artem Vezhenkov (995,429), Sylvain Loosli (901,334), Daniel Dvoress (889,164), Robin Yliatlo (777,500), Manig Loeser (698,958), Joao Vieira (617,563), and Nicholas Romanello (458,577).

Imsirovic Secures Massive Chip Lead

PKO tournaments tend to favour aggressive players and they don’t come much more aggressive than Ali Imsirovic. The Swede finished with a 1,802,858 stack, enough for fifth-place on the Day 1B leaderboard, but he managed this without claiming a single bounty along the way! It’s quite incredible really.

Only 80 of the 578 starters made it through to Day 2. This saw him finish second and is enough for third-place overall. Incredibly, Sheils has $10,125 worth of bounties already, which is the most of any player in the 137-strong Day 2 field.

Some of the Day 1B players to look out for on Day 2 include Martin Jacobson (2,045,669), Jareth East (1,412,372), Thomas Boivin (1,301,044), Artur Martirosian (815,028), Ryan Riess (809,573), Pascal Hartmann (659,934), Steve Watts (651,182), Yuri Dzivielevski (587,692), Rok Gostisa (574,954), Mohsin Charania (480,400), Ben Heath (310,724), and Elior Sion (91,036).

WPT #05 Knockout Championship Day 2 Top 10 Chip Counts

Place

Player

Country

Chips

1

Ali Imsirovic

Mexico

4,319,536

2

Chance Kornuth

Canada

2,520,484

3

Brandon Sheils

United Kingdom

2,380,866

4

Santiago Plante

Canada

2,094,228

5

Martin Jacobson

United Kingdom

2,045,669

6

German Christiansen

Argentina

1,973,821

7

Lukas Wimmer

Austria

1,872,570

8

Simon Mattsson

Sweden

1,802,858

9

Mark Davies

Ireland

1,583,429

10

Christopher Putz

Austria

1,563,629

Day 2 commences at 20:00 CEST on August 17 and continues until only nine players remain.
