Greece\u2019s <strong>Christos Xanthopoulos<\/strong> goes down in the history books as the Day 1A chip leader after turning his 100,000 starting stack into 1,695,885.<\/p>\n<p>Xanthopoulos has done his chances of glory no harm at all by getting off to a lightning-quick start in this $3 million guaranteed event. There\u2019s still a long way to go before he can call himself a champion, especially when you take a look at the chasing pack.<\/p>\n<p>Former WSOP Main Event finalists <strong>Nick Marchington<\/strong> bagged up 1,534,487 chips and currently occupies second place on the overnight chip counts. Marchington is a superb player who usually specialises in cash games but is a dab hand at MTTs too. He\u2019s definitely one to watch now he\u2019s deep stacked.<\/p>\n<p>Just behind Marchington is <strong>Steve O\u2019Dwyer<\/strong> and Malta-based grinder <strong>Pim Gieles<\/strong>. Neither of these players needs any introduction because they\u2019ve been crushing tournaments for several years, the latter even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/2019-millions-online-champion.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">chopped the 2019 MILLIONS Online<\/a> for more than $2 million!<\/p>\n<p>Also in the top 10 Day 1A chip counts is <strong>Jiachen Gong<\/strong> who finished seventh in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/gavin-cochrane-takes-down-wptwoc-8-max-championship.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">8-Max Championship<\/a> for $61,171. Fifth-place finisher in the 8-Max event, <strong>Shyngis Satubayev<\/strong> returns with 733,702 chips, while <strong>Dimitar Danchev<\/strong> progressed with 676,675 chips.<\/p>\n<p>Team partypoker\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/en\/p\/team-partypoker\/patrick-leonard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Patrick Leonard<\/strong><\/a> (599,584), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/matthew-staples-wins-93000-in-partypoker-million.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Matthew Staples<\/strong><\/a> (482,219), and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/en\/p\/team-partypoker\/jason-koon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Jason Koon<\/strong><\/a> (317,409), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/daniel-dvoress-bags-a-massive-614k-prize.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Daniel Dvoress<\/strong><\/a> (465,430), <strong>Lars Kamphues<\/strong> (457,880), <strong>Alex Foxen<\/strong> (423,928), <strong>Kahle Burns<\/strong> (350,278), and <strong>Ryan Riess<\/strong> (150,251) are some other names to look out for on Day 2.<\/p>\n<p>Day 1B shuffles up and deal at 20:00 CEST on August 9 and we\u2019re expecting a bumper crowd.
