The third Championship Event of the 2020 WPT World Online Championships<\/strong><\/a> has reached its final table after 1,062-entrants were whittled down to only nine players over the course of two starting flights and a Day 2.<\/p>\n

These nine hopefuls return to the action at 20:00 CEST on August 4 knowing they are only eight eliminations away from becoming a World Poker Tour champion, securing a huge $5400,664 prize<\/strong>, and a $15,000 added seat to the next Tournament of Champions complete with flights and accommodation. The stakes are most definitely high.<\/p>\n

Gavin Cochrane<\/strong> is the man to catch going into the final day\u2019s play and he\u2019s going to take some catching. The British Pot-Limit Omaha specialist has swapped four hole cards for two and it\u2019s worked out perfectly for him. Cochrane sits back down with 34,469,718 chips at his disposal, almost double that of Thomas Boivin who is armed with 17,996,141 betting tokens.<\/p>\n

The final table is the home to some of the world\u2019s best poker talent, including Dmitry Yurasov<\/strong> (16,331,208), Daniel Colpoys<\/strong> (9,704,802), Sam Grafton<\/strong> (6,704,878), and Bulgarian hero Ognyan Dimov<\/strong> (5,483,505).<\/p>\n

Further down the chip counts, you find Lars Kamphues<\/strong> whose brother, Timo, won the WPT Shooting Stars for Charity<\/strong><\/a> event and did so in spectacular fashion. Timo started the final day of that tournament short-stacked, just like Lars here, and went on to win. Can Lars follow in his brother\u2019s footsteps and do the same?<\/p>\n

Also with a little work to do when play resumes are Canada\u2019s Jiachen Gong<\/strong> (5,195,476) and Shyngis Satubayev<\/strong>, the latter is looking to but Kazakhstan on the poker map.<\/p>\n

Gavin Cochrane<\/strong> of the United Kingdom is the chip leader going into the final table and it is a substantial lead, one that seems him sit down with almost twice as many chips as anyone else at the table.<\/p>\n

Cochrane is better known for his PLO prowess but he certainly knows his way around a NLHE table. You may know him better as \u201cgavz101\u201d<\/strong> which is the moniker he tends to use at the online poker tables. There\u2019s still plenty that can happen in this tournament but Cochrane knows he\u2019s got one foot in the door of the exclusive Champions Club.<\/p>\n

Thomas Boivin<\/h2>\n

Thomas Boivin<\/p><\/div>\n

Thomas Boivin<\/strong> is a Belgian pro living in the United Kingdom and he sits back down second in chips. He is an incredible No-Limit Hold\u2019em player who has accumulated $2,856,047 in live tournament winnings and more than $2.4 million from his play online.<\/p>\n

Boivin\u2019s largest-ever cash weighs in at \u20ac375,520 ($426,861). He needs to win this 8-Max Championship event to beat that impressive sum. What more motivation does one man need?<\/p>\n

Dmitry Yurasov<\/h2>\n

Dmitry Yurasov<\/p><\/div>\n

Dmitry Yurasov<\/strong> is the third and final player who returns to the battlefield with an eight-figure stack. Yurasov has seven six-figure hauls from his live poker exploits, helping him reach career earnings of $3,326,540.<\/p>\n

His biggest poker achievement to date is winning the $10,000 No-Limit Hold\u2019em 6-Handed Championship<\/strong> event at the 2017 World Series of Poker, which bagged him a career-best $775,923 and a gold bracelet. Can he add a WPT title to his already impressive poker resume?<\/p>\n

Daniel Colpoys<\/h2>\n

Daniel Colpoys<\/p><\/div>\n

Daniel Colpoys<\/strong> is a grinder from Gloucester but not the one in the UK, the one in Massachusetts, United States. Colpoys now calls Mexico home, which is where he\u2019s hoping to become a WPT champion from.<\/p>\n

Colpoys counts a WCOOP victory among his list of poker achievements. His biggest live tournament cash came in 2019 when Colpoys navigated his way to a 63rd place finish in the WSOP Main Event<\/strong>. That result gifted Colpoys $142,215. Fourth place or better in the WPT 8-Max Championship will eclipse that.<\/p>\n

Sam Grafton<\/h2>\n

Sam Grafton<\/p><\/div>\n

Sam Grafton<\/strong> is one of the best-known poker players<\/a> on the circuit thanks to his happy, jovial and extremely chatty manner, but don\u2019t let that his front fool you because Grafton is a beast of a player.<\/p>\n

With more than $4.1 million in live winnings<\/strong> and more than $7.7 million from online MTTs<\/strong>, Grafton is a huge winner. Grafton is in hot form too having won the 8-Max Warm-Up<\/strong> a couple of nights ago for $99,000!<\/p>\n

Ognyan Dimov<\/h2>\n

Ognyan Dimov<\/p><\/div>\n

Bulgarian pro Ognyan Dimov has the chance to become only the 10th player in history to win poker\u2019s Triple Crown. Dimov won the EPT Deauville Main Event<\/strong> in February 2015 and a WSOP bracelet in a $1,500 No-Limit Hold\u2019em 6-Handed<\/strong> event in 2018. He\u2019ll complete the Triple Crown of titles with a victory here, joining our very own Roberto Romanello<\/strong><\/a> in that exclusive group of superstars.<\/p>\n

Dimov is guaranteed a spectacular Return On Investment (ROI) for this event thanks to having won his $3,200 seat from a $320 Mega Sats tournament<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Lars Kamphues<\/h2>\n

Lars Kamphues<\/p><\/div>\n

Lars Kamphues<\/strong> is one of the shorter stacks at the restart but he\u2019ll draw inspiration from his brother, Timo, when play resumes. Timo was one of the shortest stacks on the final day of the WPT Shooting Stars for Charity event but went on to take it down after bulldozing his way through the field.<\/p>\n

Lars has more than a dozen WSOP cashes, including a final table appearance in a $5,000 No-Limit Hold\u2019em<\/strong> event that resulted in a fifth-place finish. He also finished fourth in the WPT Gardens Festival Main Event<\/strong> in 2019. Could this be the event he\u2019s crowned champion?<\/p>\n

Jiachen Gong<\/h2>\n

Jiachen Gong<\/p><\/div>\n

Jiachen Gong<\/strong> calls Pointe-Claire, Quebec, Canada home and he\u2019s hoping to reproduce his excellent form in Canadian live events. Gong\u2019s largest prize came from a sixth-place finish in the partypoker WPT Montreal Main Event<\/strong> for C$175,500 ($133,996). Gong has also won a handful of tournaments at the Playground Poker Club that had buy-ins ranging from $1,100 up to $5,300.<\/p>\n

Write off Gong at your peril.<\/p>\n

Shyngis Satubayev<\/h2>\n

Shyngis Satubayev<\/p><\/div>\n

Kazakhstan may not be the first country you think of when discussing elite poker players but it could be if Shyngis Satubayev<\/strong> gets the job done in this event.<\/p>\n

Satubayev prefers to fly under the radar but some of his results scream out. He scoped $596,249 from a \u20ac25,000 Super High Roller<\/strong> in May 2018 and has a slew of six-figure prizes to his name. Satubayev is the tournament\u2019s shortest stack but he\u2019s one double away from being up there with the leaders.<\/p>\n
