Day 1B of the $3 million guaranteed WPT #03 8-Max Championship<\/strong> took place on August 2 and saw another 597 players buy in. This takes the total attendance to 1,062 and means the surviving players from both flights are now playing for a share of $3,186,000.<\/p>\n

Ioannis Angelou-Konstas<\/strong><\/a> is the man who topped the Day 1B chip counts and now also leads the tournament overall. The Netherlands-based Dutch star finished his flight with 2,289,328 chips in his arsenal and is the only player to bag up more than two million. Day 1A chip leader, Ali Imsirovic<\/strong><\/a>, came close with 1,959,334, but Angelou-Konstas is the one to catch.<\/p>\n

Angelou-Konstas is no stranger to major events. He\u2019s racked up almost $2.65 million in live tournament cashes, including a massive \u00a3940,000 ($1,237,557) from his victory in the 2018 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS UK Main Event<\/strong>. Angelou-Konstas now has his sights set on a WPT title.<\/p>\n

It won\u2019t be an easy task because there were some legitimate superstars who punched their Day 2 tickets from the Day 1B flight.<\/p>\n

Not least Sami Kelopuro<\/strong> who ended Day 1B with 1,494,707 chips, enough for second place. Then you have Pablo Brito Silva<\/strong>, winner of the 2020 Irish Open Online Main Event<\/strong><\/a>, in third place.<\/p>\n

Darren Rabinowitz<\/strong>, British bracelet winner Ben Heath<\/strong>, Germany legend Fedor Holz<\/strong>, and Samuel Vousden<\/strong> all bagged up enough chips to end Day 1B with a top 10 stack!<\/p>\n

In total, 93 players progressed from the 597-entrants on Day 1B. Team partypoker\u2019s Dzmitry Urbanovich<\/strong> (1,060,724) was the only orange diamond to make it through the shark-infested waters unscathed.<\/p>\n

Others to look out from the Day 1B field when Day 2 shuffles up and deal at 20:00 CEST on August 3 include Dan Shak<\/strong> (1,105,920), Sylvain Loosli<\/strong> (989,180), Alex Foxen<\/strong> (879,479), and Benjamin Rolle<\/strong> (835,427).<\/p>\n

Others also through include, Steve O\u2019Dwyer<\/strong> (660,615), Liv Boeree<\/strong> (476,101), Simon Ravnsbaek<\/strong> (475,392), Christopher Brammer<\/strong> (467,173), Sam Grafton<\/strong> (355,0650) who won the $1,050 8-Max Warm-Up<\/strong> for $99,180, and Laszlo Bujtas<\/strong> (234,426).<\/p>\n

Day 2 runs until only nine players remain in the hunt for the $540,664 top prize, induction in the WPT Champions Club<\/strong>, and a $15,000 seat in the next Tournament of Champions<\/strong> including flights and accommodation!<\/p>\n
