The <strong>WPT #02 Omaha Championship Event<\/strong> kicks off on July 25 and players from around the world prepared for it with the trio of Omaha Openers on July 23.<\/p>\n<h2>WPT Omaha Opener: $75K Gtd Freezeout<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-89271\" src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Gryko-Win-600x447.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"447\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Gryko-Win-300x224@2x.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Gryko-Win-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Gryko-Win.jpg 798w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Seventy players bought into the <strong>WPT Omaha Opener: $75K Gtd Freezeout<\/strong> 2-Day event and fought it out for a place in the top nine where the $75,000 prize pool was awarded.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lucas Silva<\/strong> of Brazil was the unfortunate soul who bust in 10th place, paving the way for a min-cash of $2,727 for the nine surviving players.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gavin Cochrane<\/strong> finished in ninth-place. You may recall Cochrane excelled during the recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/race-for-poker-masters-online-plo-series-purple-jacket-heats-up.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Poker Masters PLO Series<\/strong><\/a>. Our very own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/en\/p\/team-partypoker\/jeff-gross\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Jeff Gross<\/strong><\/a> was the next player to fall before <strong>Tomas Geleziunas<\/strong> ran out of steam in seventh-place.<\/p>\n<p>High volume grinder <strong>Joshua Hoesel<\/strong> saw his tournament end abruptly in sixth-place, a finish worth $3,589. The last standing member of Team partypoker, <strong>Kristen Bicknell<\/strong> turned her $1,050 investment into $4,875 courtesy of her fifth-place exit.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth-place and $6,750 went to the reigning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/anton-suarez-wins-millions-uk.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>2020 MILLIONS UK Main Event<\/strong><\/a> champion <strong>Anton Suarez<\/strong>. His surname is Romanello but it wasn\u2019t Roberto who won this princely sum, it was his dad, Frank! A superb result we\u2019re sure you\u2019ll agree.<\/p>\n<p>Romanello\u2019s demise left <strong>Ferenc Deak<\/strong> and <strong>Richard Gryko<\/strong> to fight it out heads-up for the title. The battle of the United Kingdom versus Hungary went the way of the British as Gryko came out on top and banked the $25,706 top prize. Deak netted $16,702 for his runner-up finish.<\/p>\n<h2>WPT Omaha Opener Mini: $20K Gtd Freezeout<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-89277\" src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Lehner-win-600x447.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"447\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Lehner-win-300x224@2x.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Lehner-win-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Lehner-win.jpg 798w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There were plenty of big names in the <strong>$109 edition of the WPT Omaha Opener<\/strong> with several of them making their way super deep in the 177-strong field.<\/p>\n<p>Irish Open Online High Roller champion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/ioannis-angelou-konstas-wins-2020-irish-open-online-high-roller.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Ioannis Angelou-Konstas<\/strong><\/a> made his way to eighth place before busting out. <strong>Erik Dahlberg<\/strong>, who reached the final table of the <strong>$3,200 PL8 Championship Event<\/strong> won by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/paul-tedeschi-wins-plo8-championship-event-at-the-wptwoc.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Paul Tedeschi<\/strong><\/a>, went a few places deeper before running out of luck in fifth-place for $1,200.<\/p>\n<p>British grinder <strong>Adam York<\/strong> had to make do with the $2,200 third-place prize, which left Norway\u2019s <strong>Even Roste Kristiansen<\/strong> and Austria\u2019s <strong>Stefan Lehner<\/strong> as the last men standing. Lehner got the job done and his hands on the $4,856 top prize, leaving Kristiansen to bank $3,125.<\/p>\n<h2>WPT Omaha Opener Micro: $5K Gtd Freezeout<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-89283\" src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Dos-Santos-win-600x447.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"447\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Dos-Santos-win-300x224@2x.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Dos-Santos-win-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Dos-Santos-win.jpg 798w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Stefan Lehner almost won two WPT events on the same day but things just didn\u2019t work out for the Austria. Lehner was one of 341-entrants in the <strong>$11 buy-in Micro<\/strong> event and he outlasted almost everyone. His incredible double run ended in this event with a third-place finish worth $530.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019d better watch out of Lehner enters any future PLO events because it looks like he knows his way around an Omaha tournament!<\/p>\n<p>Lehner\u2019s demise left Canada\u2019s <strong>Ashish Antony<\/strong> and Brazil\u2019s <strong>Guilherme Dos Santos<\/strong> as the last two players in the event. Dos Santos used all of his Samba flair to beat his Canadian opponent and lock up a $982 prize.
