Argentina\u2019s Leo Fernandez<\/strong> won the WPT Online Series Opening Event<\/strong><\/a> at the start of the festival and last night topped the Day 1B chip counts in the $5 million guaranteed WPT Online Championship<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The tournament has attracted 1,590 players across two of its four flights, and $4,770,000 of the $5 million guarantee has been collected. This event is going to be nothing short of huge!<\/p>\n

WPT #20 \u2013 WPT Online Championship Day 1B: $5M Gtd<\/h2>\n

Another 782 players piled into the $3,200 buy-in WPT Online Championship on Day 1B<\/strong>, taking the total attendance to 1,590 with two starting days remaining. Day 1C starts today at 13:00 CET with a turbo Day 1D shuffling up at 18:00 CET.<\/p>\n

Leo Fernandez<\/strong> bagged up the most chips on Day 1B, his 620,258 stack enough to claim the overnight chip lead. It was a close call at the top of the counts with Brock Wilson<\/strong> (604,616), and Aram Zobain<\/strong> (602,449) each finishing with more than 600,000 chips.<\/p>\n

Plenty of other stars ended their Day 1B with a top 10 stack. Max Silver<\/strong> has done his chances of a deep run no harm at all after an excellent performance at the tables. Silver returns to the action with 573,747.<\/p>\n

Aaron Been<\/strong> (538,322) and Simon Pedersen<\/strong> (515,991) also sailed through the second flight of this $5 million guaranteed tournament.<\/p>\n

A total of 127 players punched their Day 2 tickets. Luc Greenwood<\/strong> (54,453), Marc-Andre Ladouceur<\/strong> (60,311) and Ema Zajmovic<\/strong> (62,000) are through but have plenty of work to do.<\/p>\n

Further up the chip counts you find Joao Ferreira<\/strong> (205,772), Mark Teltscher<\/strong> (218,520), and Sylvain Loosli<\/strong> (252,679). Higher still are such luminaries as Niklas Astedt<\/strong> (381,927), and Mike Watson<\/strong> (330,278).<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

WPT #33 \u2013 6-Max Weekender Final Day: $1M Gtd<\/h2>\n

Elliott Peterman<\/strong> got his hands on an incredible $235,508 thanks to taking down the 6-Max Weekender<\/strong>. Sixty-nine players progressed to the final day with nine of them going home empty-handed.<\/p>\n

Team partypoker\u2019s Kristen Bicknell<\/strong><\/a>, Patrick Leonard<\/strong><\/a>, and Roberto Romanello<\/strong><\/a> all cashed. As did the likes of Christopher Brammer<\/strong>, Niklas Astedt<\/strong>, Mohsin Charania<\/strong> and Zachary Clark<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Each of the six finalists padded their bankrolls with at least $40,062. This was the sum banked by Aliaksei Boika<\/strong>. Dimitar Danchev<\/strong> fell in fifth for $63,128 with Luc Greenwood<\/strong> walking away with $88,622 after busting in fourth-place.<\/p>\n

Third-place and $125,649 went to Alexandros Kolonias, which set up a heads-up battle between Eugenio Peralta<\/strong> and Peterman. The latter emerged victoriously and won the $235,508 top prize, resigning the runner-up to a $174,816 which isn\u2019t to be sniffed at.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

WPT #33 \u2013 Mini 6-Max Weekender Final Day: $300K Gtd<\/h2>\n

The mini edition of the 6-Max Weekender wasn\u2019t exactly mini because everyone at the final table collected large payouts.<\/p>\n

Marc-Andre Ladouceur<\/strong> finished in sixth for a shade under $12,000. Stavros Kalfas<\/strong> won the $20,583 fifth-place prize with Emil Olsson<\/strong> of Sweden padding his bankroll with a $31,068 prize.<\/p>\n

Luke Martinelli<\/strong>, all the way from New Zealand, collected the $42,997 third-place prize, leaving Nick Yunis<\/strong> and Alexandr Trofimov<\/strong> to clash one-on-one for the lion\u2019s share of the prize money.<\/p>\n

Yunis is vastly experienced online and in the live arena, but the Chilean ultimately fell in second-place. Yunis banked $56,589 leaving Trofimov to reel in the $74,938 top prize and the title of WPT Online Series champion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
