The 2020 Irish Open<\/strong><\/a> is taking place online at partypoker and has already crowned six champions. One of those champions is no stranger to the winner\u2019s circle.<\/p>\n

Ioannis Angelou-Konstas<\/strong> was the last man standing in the 2018 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS UK Main Event<\/strong>. Angelou-Konstas topped a field of 1,015 entrants that day and walked away with a career-best \u00a3940,000 after a heads-up deal with American superstar William Foxen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Angelou-Konstas now has an Irish Open title on his already impressive poker CV after he triumphed in the \u20ac5,200 High Roller on April 7.<\/p>\n

2020 Irish Open Event #3: \u20ac500K Gtd High Roller<\/h2>\n

A field of 179-entrants ensured the \u20ac500,000 guarantee was not only met but blown out of the water. The top 24 finishers fought it out for a slice of \u20ac895,000!<\/p>\n

The tournament attracted some of the best poker tournament players in the business.<\/p>\n

Andras Nemeth<\/strong>, Max Silver<\/strong>, Michael Watson<\/strong>, Super High Roller specialist Timothy Adams<\/strong>, former WSOP Main Event champion Ryan Riess<\/strong>, Anton Wigg<\/strong>, and Adrian Mateos<\/strong><\/a> were some of those who entered but busted before the money was awarded.<\/p>\n

Dutch grinder Emile Schiff<\/strong> was the unfortunate soul who burst the money bubble, falling in 25th. His exit locked up at least 411,903 for the surviving players.<\/p>\n

Swedish superstar Simon Mattsson<\/strong> (23rd – \u20ac11,903), Mustapha Kanit<\/strong> (21st – \u20ac11,903), our very own Josip Simunic<\/strong><\/a> (13th – \u20ac15,394) and Ole Schemion<\/strong> (10th – \u20ac17,900) were among those who cashed.<\/p>\n

The final table was set with UK-based Dutchman Jorryt Van Hoof<\/strong> crashed out in ninth-place for \u20ac17,900.<\/p>\n

Star Studded Final Table Set<\/h2>\n

To say the final table was stack is an understatement. Any of the eight who reached it would have made a worthy champion.<\/p>\n

The 2019 WSOP Main Event runner-up Dario Sammartino<\/strong> was the first casualty. He collected \u20ac24,612.<\/p>\n

Jack Sinclair<\/strong>, who won the 2018 WSOP Europe Main Event<\/strong>, fell in seventh for \u20ac31,325 and was joined on the rail by fellow Brit and high stakes specialist Luke Reeves<\/strong> who banked \u20ac40,275.<\/p>\n

Russia\u2019s Alexey Savenkov<\/strong> and Finland\u2019s Akseli Paalanen<\/strong> busted in fifth and fourth-place for scores of \u20ac51,910 and \u20ac74,285 respectively. Heads-up was set when one of the best players in the world, Thomas Muehloecker<\/strong> ran out of steam and fell by the wayside, but not before padding his bankroll with \u20ac103,820.<\/p>\n

Muehloecker\u2019s exit left Lukas Nowkowski<\/strong> and Angelou-Konstas to lock horns heads-up for the title. The heads-up duo ended the High Roller by striking a deal while Angelou-Konstas was the chip leader. This led to Nowkowski finishing in second-place and collecting \u20ac168,180 and Angelou-Konstas being crowned the champion and hauling in \u20ac172,188.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

2020 Irish Open Main Event Starts Today, April 8<\/h2>\n

The crown jewel of the 2020 Irish Open, the \u20ac1 million guaranteed Main Event<\/strong>, kicks off on April 8 with the first of four starting flights.<\/p>\n

Day 1A commences at 20:00 CET and costs \u20ac1,100 to enter. For that, you receive 30,000 chips and play to a 24-minute clock that has blinds starting at 50\/100\/15a. Play lasts for 12-levels and anyone with chips in front of them at that time progresses to Day 2 on April 11. Day 1D is a turbo with 8-minute blinds, but the same blind structure.<\/p>\n

Players can play in as many Day 1s as they wish but only your largest stack can be taken through to Day 2.<\/p>\n
