Adrian Mateos<\/strong> is already widely regarded as one of the best poker tournament players in the world and his stock has risen even higher after he was crowned the 2019 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS World Bahamas Main Event<\/strong> champion, an accolade that came with a massive $1,162,805 prize.<\/p>\n

The final day\u2019s action started with only 24 players in contention for the title and with Team partypoker pro Ludovic Geilich<\/strong><\/a> in pole position for a seven-figure prize.<\/p>\n

Jokin Munoz<\/strong> was the first casualty of the day and he was followed by the likes of Scott Margereson<\/strong> (22nd for $50,000), Alexandru Papazian<\/strong> (21st for $50,000), Andras Nemeth<\/strong> (19th for $50,000), and Martin Zamani<\/strong> (18th for $50,000).<\/p>\n

The disaster struck for Geilich. William Blais<\/strong> opened to 7,000,000 and Geilich three-bet to 19,500,000. Blais called. Blais checked the flop, Gelich fired a 17,000,000 continuation bet only to see Blais check-raise all-in for 65,800,000. Geilich used two time extensions before sending his cards into the muck.<\/p>\n

Geilich has aces cracked<\/h2>\n

Shortly after, Geilich had aces cracked. Blais opened to 4,00,000 from the cutoff, Geilich called on the button before Alex Foxen<\/strong> squeezed all-in for 37.8 million in the small blind. Blais folded but Geilich called, showing as he did so. Foxen revealed before the board ran to gift Foxen a flush and to leave Geilich with only four big blinds. Geilich never recovered and fell in 14th for $65,000.<\/p>\n

Ryan Riess<\/strong>, Foxen, Jonathan Kozel<\/strong>, and Oskar Prehm<\/strong> busted, the latter having kings cracked to set the final table.<\/p>\n

Just as Geilich had aces cracked, his teammate Philipp Gruissem<\/strong> suffered the same fate to bust in ninth. Gruissem open-shove for 33,000,000 with and Chris Hunichen<\/strong> called with . Gruissem stayed ahead on the flop but was all but defeated on the turn. The river was the and Gruissem busted in ninth-place for $140,000.<\/p>\n

Gregory Baird<\/strong> crashed out in eighth-place and the hands of Hunichen, who once again came from behind to flop a set of sixes.<\/p>\n

Canada\u2019s Peter Jetten<\/strong>\u2019s lost out to Scott Wellenbach<\/strong>\u2019s queens to reduce the player count by one, before Oleg Mandzjuk<\/strong> collected $350,000 for his sixth-place finish, his three-bet shove with losing to the of Wellenbach.<\/p>\n

Half a million dollars went to William Blais who got his stack in with and lost to Hunichen\u2019s courtesy of a queen on the river. Aaron Van Blarcum<\/strong> then sent Wellenbach to the showers with against to leave only three players in contention for the title.<\/p>\n

Hunichen was in danger of running away with thing but Mateos clipped his wings to claw his way back into contention. The final trio kept doubling each other up and it was anyone\u2019s tournament to win. During a break, the final three players struck a deal that left $100,000 and the trophy for the eventual champion. The player also agreed to cut the levels to 30-minutes.<\/p>\n

Mateos put his foot on the gas and began pulling away but it was Van Blarcum who claimed the scalp of Hunichen. Hunichen jammed with and Van Blarcum re-raised all-in with . A final board reading sent Hunichen home with $1,097,195.<\/p>\n

Van Blarcum trailed by 452,000,000 to Mateos\u2019 496,000,000 going into heads-up but Mateos soon pulled away. The final hand saw Mateos hold 814,000,000 chips to Van Blarcum\u2019s 134,000,000. Those 134,000,000 chips went into the middle holding and Mateos called with . A nine on the flop was enough to bust Van Blarcum in second-place and lock up yet another title for the incredibly talented Mateos.<\/p>\n
