The 2019 Caribbean Poker Party<\/strong> crowned another two champions on Day 4 as Adrian Mateos<\/strong> triumphed in the $25,000 MILLIONS Super High Roller<\/strong> and Christopher Brammer<\/strong> took down the MILLIONS Mini Main Event<\/strong>. Poker legend Phil Ivey also made an appearance at the 2019 CPP, doing so in the $25,000 Short Deck event. Let\u2019s check out the biggest stories of 2019 CPP Day 4.<\/p>\n

Mateos Wins the MILLIONS Super High Roller<\/h2>\n

Spain\u2019s Adrian Mateos<\/strong> helped himself to yet another major live poker title when he outlasted a star-studded field of 125 players in the $25,500 MILLIONS Super High Roller<\/strong>. The $2 million guaranteed was blown out of the water with a prize pool of $3,125,000 created.<\/p>\n

Fifty-eight of the 125 starters returned to the tables at the start of Day 2 and only 17 of them received a slice of the prize pool. Elio Fox<\/strong> was the first player to collect a payout, banking $60,000. Fox was followed to the cashier\u2019s desk by Alex Foxen<\/strong> and his girlfriend Team partypoker\u2019s Kristen Bicknell<\/strong>. Sean Winter<\/strong>, Peter Jetten<\/strong>, Rainer Kempe<\/strong> and Davidi Kitai<\/strong> followed suit. Jeremy Ausmus<\/strong> busted in 10th before Darren Elias<\/strong> fell in ninth to set the official final table.<\/p>\n

Michael Zhang<\/strong> of the United Kingdom lost a flip with against the of Christopher Fraser<\/strong> to be the first finalist to fall by the wayside. Turkey\u2019s Orpen Kisacikoglu<\/strong> then lost a coinflip with against the of Niall Farrell<\/strong> to reduce the player count by one.<\/p>\n

The final six became five when Benjamin Pollak<\/strong> three-bet all-in with over the top of a Brock Wilson<\/strong> raise only for Wilson to snap-call with .<\/p>\n

Niall Farrell<\/p><\/div>\n

Farrell then got his chips in as a favourite, holding against Fraser\u2019s . Fraser immediately took the lead on the flop, although Farrell could still win with any ace, club or running cards to a straight. The turn was black but the wrong suit, the , before the completed the run-out. Game over for the former WPT Caribbean champion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Fraser\u2019s run good continued when his held against the pocket eights of David Eldridge<\/strong>, and heads-up was set when Fraser busted in third. Fraser moved all-in for less than 15 big binds on a [Kx][8x][4x] flop with [7x][5x] and Wilson looked him up with . Wilson\u2019s hand remained true and heads-up was set.<\/p>\n

Mateos was miles behind in the chip counts, his 18,500,000 dwarfed by the 105,000,000 chips in Wilson\u2019s stack. He may have been trailing but you do not win more than $18 million from live tournaments without knowing how to make a comeback.<\/p>\n

And comeback Mateos did, eventually drawing almost level. A little toing and froing later, and the pair struck a deal before flipping for the trophy. Like a true champion, Mateos won the flip and secured the MILLIONS Super High Roller title.<\/p>\n

Brammer Wins MILLIONS Mini Main Event; Gross and Simunic Fall Short<\/h2>\n

Jeff Gross<\/p><\/div>\n

All eyes were on team partpyoker\u2019s Jeff Gross<\/strong><\/a> and Josip Simunic<\/strong><\/a> on the final day of the MILLIONS Mini Main Event but, sadly, both fell short of glory.<\/p>\n

Twenty-three players fought it out for the $165,000 top prize. Former WSOP Main Event champion Ryan Riess<\/strong> was a high-profile bustout, finishing 19th for $6,000. Simunic busted in 14th for $7,750 which is the same sum Gross banked for finishing one place deeper.<\/p>\n

All eight players at the official final table locked up $15,000 for their $1,100 investment, the sum awarded to Karim Kamal<\/strong> of Canada. Paul Michaelis<\/strong>, Christopher Taylor<\/strong> and another former WSOP Main Event champ in Joe Cada<\/strong> then lost their stacks to leave four players in the hunt for the title.<\/p>\n

Sasa Lalos<\/strong>\u2019 fourth-place finish yielded $54,250 with Andreas Putz<\/strong> of Germany collecting $75,000 when he fell in third.<\/p>\n

This set up an enticing one-on-one confrontation between Brammer and the excellent American Joseph Cheong<\/strong>. It was a battle that Brammer went on to win, locking up the $165,000 top prize and resigning Cheong to the $110,000 consolation score.<\/p>\n

Calamusa Leads MILLIONS Main Event After Day 1A; Simao Progresses<\/h2>\n

The $10 million guaranteed MILLIONS Main Event<\/strong> at the 2019 CPP kicked off on Day 4 and saw 423 entrants reduced to a more manageable 231. France\u2019s Pierre Calamusa bagged up the most chips at the close of play, his overnight bag containing 5,800,000 betting tokens.<\/p>\n

Three other players finished Day 1A of the $10,300 buy-in tournament with more than 5 million chips. Dimitar Danchev<\/strong> is second in chips with a stack of 5,375,000 with a pair of Austrians in Sandro Zarriello<\/strong> and Matthias Lipp<\/strong> finishing with 5,180,000 and 5,155,000 respectively.<\/p>\n

Mike Leah<\/strong> and Joao Vieira<\/strong> both enjoyed solid days at the partypoker-branded felt and find themselves in the top 10.<\/p>\n

Plenty of big names made it through to Day 2 at the first attempt. These included Team partypoker pros Dzmitry Urbanovich<\/strong>, Joao Simao<\/strong><\/a>, Mike Sexton<\/strong><\/a>, Anatoly Filatov<\/a>,<\/strong> Day Kotoviezy<\/strong><\/a>, Jeff Gross<\/strong>, and Louise Butler<\/strong><\/a>. Some of the other stars to look out for include Faraz Jaka<\/strong>, Thomas Muehloecker<\/strong>, Matas Cimbolas<\/strong>, Jonathan Little<\/strong>, Alex Foxen<\/strong>, Chino Rheem<\/strong>, Steven van Zadelhoff<\/strong>, Erik Seidel<\/strong>, Steve O\u2019Dwyer<\/strong>, and Stephen Chidwick<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Day 1B commences at 12:00 local time with a pair of $825 buy-in reload satellites taking place at 15:00 and 19:00 that each have 10 seats guaranteed.<\/p>\n

Ivey Buys Into $25,000 Short Deck Event; Dvoress Wins Again<\/h2>\n

Last but not least is the $25,000 Short Deck<\/strong> event that saw 45 entries, Phil Ivey<\/strong>, a 10-time WSOP bracelet winner who many consider to be one of poker\u2019s greatest-ever players, among them. Ivey eventually bust in fourth-place for $126,500 with partypoker pro Isaac Haxton collecting $95,000 for his fifth-place exit.<\/p>\n

Such luminaries as Jason Koon<\/strong><\/a>, Jonathan Depa<\/strong> competed in the event but it was Super High Roller Bowl Bahamas<\/strong> champion Daniel Dvoress<\/strong><\/a> who emerged victoriously and banked $375,000.<\/p>\n
