A field of 536 players bought into the $10,300 MILLIONS Vegas Main Event, ensuring the $5 million guarantee was surpassed. The $5,360,000 prize pool was shared among the top 79 finishers with such luminaries as Maria Ho<\/strong> (78th – $20,000), Faraz Jaka<\/strong> (70th – $20,000), Olivier Busquet<\/strong> (63rd – $25,000), Anton Wigg<\/strong> (34th – $30,000), Mustapha Kanit<\/strong> (27th – $35,000), Sam Grafton<\/strong> (20th – $35,000), and 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Chris Moneymaker<\/strong> (9th – $80,000) being among those who reached the money.<\/p>\n

A handful of Team partypoker<\/strong><\/a> players also navigated their way into the prize awarding finishing positions. Any of the eight finalists would have been a worthy champion, but the nature of tournament poker dictates there can only ever be one winner.<\/p>\n

Germany\u2019s Tobias Duthweiler<\/strong> ran out of steam to bust in eighth-place, his failing to connect with the community cards in a coinflip against Ana Marquez<\/strong>\u2019s .<\/p>\n

Sergio Aido<\/strong> was the next to fall after an ill-timed shove didn\u2019t go to plan. With blinds at 80,000\/160,000 and a 160,000 ante, Marchese raised to 350,000 before Aido three-bet all in for 4,090,000. Marchese asked for a count, performed some calculations and called, turning over . Aido could only muster the lowly and never managed to catch up.<\/p>\n

Poker legend Freddy Deeb<\/strong> was the next casualty, his fourth-place exit banking him $319,200. It was Marchese again who did the damage, first opening the betting with then snap-calling Deeb\u2019s shove that he made with . The flop left Deeb drawing to running cards for quads or a chop with a straight. Neither arrived as the turn was followed by the river.
\nMarquez then jammed all in from the small blind with only to be looked up by Ausmus holding in the big blind. Ausmus paired his nine on the flop and it was game over for Marquez.<\/p>\n

This left Marchese leading Ausmus 31,200,000 to 22,400,000 going into heads-up, a lead he managed to extend. The final hand took place in the 38th level with blinds 175,000\/350,000\/350,000a. Marchese opened to 1,000,000 with and called when Ausmus jammed all-in for 14,400,000 with . A final board reading was more than enough to win the hand for Marchese and bust Ausmus in second-place.<\/p>\n
