A year later, however, is one of Boris\u2019 top three favourite knockouts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeating <strong>Ivan Lendl<\/strong> in the 1986 Wimbledon final. Why? To defend your first win is much harder than winning the first. I was still one of the youngest around at 17-18 years old and nobody gave me a chance as nobody had done it before.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The talented German did beat Lendl and did so in straight sets, winning 6-4, 6-3, 7-5 to secure back-to-back Wimbledon titles; Boris would win Wimbledon again in 1989.<\/p>\n<p>Lendl features again in another of Boris\u2019 top three knockouts, this time in sunny Australia in 1991. Boris found himself in the <strong>Australian Open<\/strong> final against old foe Lendl and lost the first set 1-6, but rallied to win the next three sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. The victory was made sweeter by, well, let Boris tell us.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have to mention Ivan Lendl again unfortunately beating him in the Australian Open final 1991 \u2013 to <strong>become number one in world<\/strong>, which was obviously a big one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not all of the knockouts that stand out in Boris\u2019 mind are positive, because the third and final one saw him lose.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLosing in the Wimbledon final in 1990 against <strong>Stefan Edberg<\/strong> in five sets was a very heavy blow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After losing the first two sets 6-2, 6-2, Boris made a comeback and won the next two sets 6-3, 6-3 only to lose the fifth and deciding set 6-4.<\/p>\n<h2>Carl &#8220;The Cobra&#8221; Froch<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_65717\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-65717\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-65717\" src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/45095948661_bce12cc52d_k-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"Carl Froch knockout\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/45095948661_bce12cc52d_k-300x200@2x.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/45095948661_bce12cc52d_k-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/45095948661_bce12cc52d_k.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/45095948661_bce12cc52d_k-600x400@2x.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-65717\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Carl Froch<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/en\/p\/team-partypoker\/carl-froch\"><strong>Carl \u201cThe Cobra\u201d Froch<\/strong><\/a> enjoyed a glistening boxing career that saw him fight 35 times, wining 33 and 24 of those by knockout. Carl may have lost twice, but was never knocked out, which means all three of his favourite knockouts are positive, in his eyes at least!<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>George Groves<\/strong> at Wembley, obviously, the grudge rematch. He was an idiotic, obnoxious, young boy, who desperately needed teaching a lesson by his daddy aka The Cobra!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And a lesson was taught by The Cobra who knocked Groves out in the eighth round in front of <strong>80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium<\/strong>. <em>The Ring<\/em> magazine voted this the 2014 Knockout of the Year while BBC boxing commentator <strong>Mike Costello<\/strong> said the knockout punch was the \u201cbest punch you will ever see in a British boxing ring.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Coming in at number two is\u2026let\u2019s allow Carl to explain in his own unique style!<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>Jermain Taylor<\/strong> in the USA. First defence of my WBC World Title. I was behind on all the score cards so needed the KO to win. And guess what, being the ruthless, determined &amp; super fit athlete that I was, I managed to finish him off with only 14 seconds to go in the last round!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carl\u2019s third knockout that stands out in his mind was against <strong>Lucian Bute<\/strong> in May 2012, a boxer who boasted of a 30-0 professional record and holder of the <strong>IBF super-middleweight title<\/strong>. This would be Bute\u2019s 10th title defence and nobody gave Carl a cat in hell\u2019s chance of stripping Bute of his belt. Oh how wrong they were.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a fight against an unbeaten man that nobody thought I could win.
