It was at this venue that O’Kelly secured his first recorded victory on his Hendon Mob page, winning €1,780 in a €55 buy-in tournament in 2013.

Two years later, O’Kelly banked his largest cash when he was awarded €15,900 for triumphing in a €200 buy-in event in Dublin and now he can brag of a huge €30,000 score after he was the last man standing in the partypoker Fitzwilliam Poker Championships Main Event.

The €50,000 guarantee on the tournament was not only hit, it was blown out of the water as the prize pool in the €450 buy-in event swelled to €100,000. The top 18 players received a share of this princely sum, with a min-cash weighing in at €1,200, a final table appearance locking up €2,000 and the eventual champion walking away with €30,000.

Daugirdas Rimagalia was the first player to bust from the final table and he was followed to the cashier’s cage by Trim Nikollaj, Wilhelmine Connolly, Eamonn Delaney, popular grinder Rory Brennan, and Audris Daugvilavicious.

With only three players remaining, €13,000 was the least anyone would take home. This is the sum Neil O’Reilly, another club regular, got his hands on; it is the largest cash of his career. With O’Reilly out of the way, Sean Prendiville and O’Kelly locked horns heads up. Prendiville has more than $730,000 in live cashes so was the early favourite, yet O’Kelly defied the odds to win the €30,000 first-place prize, leaving Prendiville to claim the €18,000 runner-up prize.

Fitzwilliam Poker Championships Side Event

Forty-seven players turned out for the €80 no-limit hold’em side event and they played for a €3,384 prize pool.
