{"id":45280,"date":"2017-11-20T12:37:44","date_gmt":"2017-11-20T11:37:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/?p=45280"},"modified":"2021-06-21T16:06:53","modified_gmt":"2021-06-21T16:06:53","slug":"2017-caribbean-poker-party-day-3-preben-stokkan-wins-high-roller","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/2017-caribbean-poker-party-day-3-preben-stokkan-wins-high-roller.html","title":{"rendered":"2017 Caribbean Poker Party Day 3: Preben Stokkan Wins High Roller"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first champion of the <strong>2017 partypoker LIVE Caribbean Poker Party<\/strong> festival has been crowned and it is Norway\u2019s <strong>Preben Stokkan<\/strong> who has got his hands on a title and $275,000 in cash.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>MILLIONS High Roller<\/h3>\n<p>Nineteen players returned to the fray on Day 3 of the $10,300 MILLIONS High Roller, but only 11 of those received prize money. <strong>Dmitry Makarov<\/strong> was the first casualty of the afternoon before the likes of <strong>Felix Bleiker<\/strong>, <strong>Barry Hutter<\/strong>, <strong>Stephen Chidwick<\/strong>, <strong>Mike Watson<\/strong> and Team partypoker\u2019s <strong>Roberto Romanello<\/strong> fell by the wayside.<\/p>\n<p>Ronamello\u2019s exit was particularly painful as he found himself all-in with <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/9h.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/9d.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> against the ace-king\u2019s of Stokkan and Mike Watson. Romanello turned a set of nines, but Stokkan rivered a flush to send Watson and Romanello to the showers in a 24.5 million chip pot.<\/p>\n<p>Former World Series of Poker Main Event champion <strong>Ryan Riess<\/strong> fell in 13th place before <strong>Manig Loeser<\/strong> crashed out in 12th place to burst the bubble.<\/p>\n<p>The first player to collect prize money was Spain\u2019s <strong>Sergio Aido<\/strong> after his ace-ten lost to the pocket nines of <strong>Sam Greenwood<\/strong>. <strong>Stefan Schillhabel<\/strong> and <strong>Kenny Hallaert<\/strong> clashed in a carbon copy of Aido\u2019s exit except Hallaert\u2019s ace-ten prevailed against pocket nines.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jonathan Little<\/strong>, the start of play chip leader, then bust <strong>Sean Winter<\/strong> and <strong>Felipe Ramos<\/strong> in the same hand to leave only seven players in the hunt for the title and the official final table was set.<\/p>\n<p>Greenwood added to his stack by sending <strong>Steffan Sontheimer<\/strong> to the rail, his aces holding against Sontheimer\u2019s king-queen, then the dangerous <strong>Pascal Lefrancois<\/strong> came unstuck in another hand against Greenwood to reduce the player count by one.<\/p>\n<p>The final five became four when Hallaert bust at the hands of Little courtesy of a runner-runner straight and four became three when Greenwood again turned executioner to send Romania\u2019s <strong>Alexandru Papazian<\/strong> to the cashier\u2019s cage.<\/p>\n<p>Greenwood\u2019s impressive run ended in a third place finish courtesy of Stokkan. Greenwood limped with <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/kh.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/7h.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> from the small blind and called when Stokkan raised to 2.1 million with <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/qh.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/qc.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\">. The <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/5h.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/4h.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/3d.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> flop saw Greenwood check, Stokkan bet 2.6 million, Greenwood move all-in for 20.7 million and Stokkan snap-call. A black ten and black five on the turn and river sealed Greenwood\u2019s fate.<\/p>\n<p>Stokkan and Little locked horns heads-up for the title and it was Little who was fastest out of the blocks, but the match started to sway in Stokkan\u2019s favour. The final hand took place during the 600,000\/1,200,000 level and saw Stokkan announce he was all-in with <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/as.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/5d.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> and Little call off his 33.3 million chips with <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/3c.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/3d.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\">. A final board reading <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/ks.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/4d.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img reduce to a more manageable 135 with three players bagging more than 18 million chips each.<\/p>\n<p>Austria\u2019s <strong>Gerald Karlic<\/strong> is the official chip leader thanks to ending Day 2 with 18,605,000 chips, narrowly ahead of <strong>Barny Boatman<\/strong> on 18,400,000 and <strong>Vincent Tremblay<\/strong> on 18,035,000.<\/p>\n<p>The list of players navigating their way through to Day 3 reads like a who\u2019s who of world poker with such luminaries as <strong>Rainer Kempe<\/strong> (16,365,000), <strong>Mike Watson<\/strong> (10,530,000), <strong>Mike Leah<\/strong> (7,625,000), <strong>Sergio Aido<\/strong> (6,875,000), <strong>Benjamin Pollak<\/strong> (6,140,000), <strong>Kevin MacPhee<\/strong> (4,795,000) and <strong>Tom Marchese<\/strong> (3,640,000) all progressing.<\/p>\n<p>Joining these stars on Day 3 are a host of Team partypoker members. <strong>Natalia Breviglieri<\/strong> is the best placed with 9,735,000 chips, but Head of Poker <strong>Tom Waters<\/strong> isn\u2019t too far behind with 8,205,000 chips. <strong>Kristen Bicknell<\/strong> bagged up 7,075,000 and <strong>Louise Butler<\/strong> ended the night with 3,390,000.<\/p>\n<p>It was the end of the road, however, for our Chairman <strong>Mike Sexton<\/strong>, <strong>Roberto Romanello<\/strong>, <strong>Anatoly Filatov<\/strong>, <strong>Joao Simao<\/strong>, <strong>Jason Koon<\/strong>, <strong>Johnny Lodden<\/strong>, <strong>Charlie Godwin<\/strong> and <strong>Marcel Luske<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Ninety-five places are to be paid with a min-cash worth $2,000 and the
