His latest success story in poker was in 2016, at the partypoker sponsored World Poker Tour Montreal Main Event,\u00a0when he bested a field of 648 entries to win the $317,896<\/strong> USD first prize. It was his third final table at a World Poker Tour and his first WPT victory.<\/p>\n So what does a guy like this do when he is not at the poker tables? Does he have a life besides playing cards?<\/p>\n Mike Sexton decided to break his silence & wrote for the partypoker blog how his daily schedule looks like. Enjoy!<\/p>\n ***<\/p>\n Here is what a day in the life of Mike Sexton looks like in the words of Mike Sexton:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n ** Wake up about 6:45 am<\/strong><\/p>\n **\u00a0\u00a07:00-8:30 am<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Go to my office. From here, I check my emails, look at partypoker and partypoker LIVE stuff (and incidentally, the partypoker LIVE schedule for 2018 will ‘wow’ you). Then, I go to my favorite websites of ESPN.com, PokerNews.com, Cardplayer.com, TwoPlusTwo.com, and YouTube.com. I also had breakfast during this time right at my desk – some cookies and apple juice. (Hey, I’m getting better. I used to have Coke’s every morning for breakfast.)<\/p>\n ** 8:30-9:00 am<\/strong><\/p>\n Hello treadmill – thirty minutes. (I’m not fond of getting started, but once I finish doing it, I feel much better.) I also watch the news during this time.<\/p>\n ** 9:00-2:00<\/strong> pm<\/strong><\/p>\n I watched the second day of the Presidents Cup (international golf match between the U.S. & the world, not counting European players). I love watching golf, especially the majors and Ryder Cup. The President’s Cup was also fun to watch, but the U.S. dominated the competition so much that it wasn’t as exciting as usual (especially since I took over 3-1 on the International team to win). When the first group finished the 9th hole, I quickly went to McDonald’s and picked up a fish sandwich meal & a strawberry sundae to bring back to the house. What could be better than fine dining and watching golf? :)<\/p>\n ** 2:00-3:00 pm<\/strong><\/p>\n Watching the golf on TV motivated me to shower and go to the golf course to work on my short game a little. My long game is so bad it isn’t worth working on. I just accept the fact that I’m older and can only hit it about 210 yards (if I hit it good). I’ve never hit it far, but I usually hit it straight, though.<\/p>\n ** 3:00-4:00 pm<\/strong><\/p>\n I meet my son Ty after school, talk about his day at school and then played ping-pong with him. I’ve offered him $100 if ever in his life he beats me in a game of ping-pong. He likes the challenge, loves the idea of winning $100, and thinks he’ll beat me by the end of the year. There’s zero chance of that. (I keep the games close so he thinks he has a chance and doesn’t give up – and it’s working because he’s getting better all the time.) It’ll probably be a few years before he gets me, but honestly, I hope he is able to beat me at some point before too many years.<\/p>\n ** 4:30-5:00 pm<\/strong><\/p>\n The highlight of the day, and just about every day for that matter, is the “dog show”. This is where we take Jake Henry to the park and throw frisbee’s for him to catch. He and Ty take turns catching them. Our neighbor John Urpsis usually throws the frisbee’s because he’s so good at throwing them. It really is so fun to watch Jake Henry. He is a real pro at catching frisbee’s (and Ty’s pretty good, too). Jake Henry loves performing for an audience (especially if they clap) and on this day, John’s relatives from New Jersey were visiting Las Vegas so we had quite a crowd watching. And Jake Henry didn’t disappoint – he didn’t miss any!<\/p>\n ** 5:30-6:00 pm<\/strong><\/p>\n Ty and I play basketball (his favorite sport) in the backyard court. For sure he’ll beat me at basketball before he beats me at ping-pong.<\/p>\n ** 7:00-9:30 pm<\/strong><\/p>\n I meet a friend from San Diego for dinner at Bellagio (Lago’s). Eating dinner at the restaurants at Bellagio overlooking the fountains is always fun, even if you live in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n ** 10:00 pm<\/strong><\/p>\n I meet some friends (about 12 of us) at the Red Rock Casino in Summerlin to see the opening day of the movie “American Made” starring Tom Cruise. (I love going to movies.) I was invited to watch it in a “VIP movie theatre suite”. The suite was far better than the movie. In the movie, Cruise is a pilot who becomes a CIA operative. The movie is supposedly based on a true story, but I think they stretched the story a bit. In my estimation, the movie was average (at best). As a side note, whenever I’m asked what the best thing about living in Las Vegas is, I always say, “Las Vegas has the best movie theatre’s of any city in the country”. And FYI, it’s not close.<\/p>\n Overall, it was a great day!
