Fedor Holz<\/a><\/strong>, partner of partypoker<\/a>, is no stranger to playing poker tournaments for vast amounts of money. Usually, when the words \u201cHigh Roller\u201d are muttered, Holz is contemplating paying $50,000 or more to battle with poker\u2019s biggest stars.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This weekend, however, Holz entered the \u20ac2,200 High Roller at Grand Prix Austria<\/strong> and was joined at the Montesino tables by 41 other opponents who made eight re-entries between them. This created a \u20ac100,000 prize pool, of which \u20ac34,000 was set aside for the eventual champion.<\/p>\n

The money bubble burst when Jens Lakemeier<\/strong>, a talented professional poker player, saw his ace-four lose to the dominating ace-queen of Dietrich Fast<\/strong>, a player with more than $3.5 million in winnings.<\/p>\n

With Lakemeier gone in seventh-place, the surviving six players locked up at least \u20ac5,150 for their efforts, which is the sum Paul Hofer<\/strong> took away with him when his ran into the of Team partypoker\u2019s Jan-Peter Jachtmann<\/strong>. Hofer caught an ace on the flop, but Jachtmann turned a king to improve to a set, which was enough to reduce the player count by one.<\/p>\n

Fifth-place went to Christopher Frank<\/strong>, again at the hands of Jachtmann. Frank was all-in from the small blind holding and Jachtmann looked him up from the big blind with . By the river the board read to send Frank to the sidelines.<\/p>\n

Romania\u2019s Jozsef Liszkovic<\/strong> saw his tournament end in fourth place, a finish worth \u20ac10,500, before Fast crashed out at the hands of Holz. Holz was all-in on the river of the board and Fast went into the tank before emerging with a call. Fast showed for two pair, but Holz had flopped a flush with his .<\/p>\n

Heads-up saw Holz take on Jachtmann in an intriguing battle. The chips passed back and forth and not many hands went to showdown. Eventually, during the 60,000\/120,000 level, Holz moved all-in for more than three million chips with what turned out to be and Jachtmann called with . The flop fell to improve both players to a pair, with the turn gifting Jachtmann the advantage with two pair. The river was the , pairing the board and making Holz\u2019s hand the best. Jachtmann fell in second place and Holz won yet another major live poker tournament.<\/p>\n
