A whole host of stars progressed to Day 2 on November 2 including partypoker ambassadors Mike Sexton, Patrick Leonard, and Tony Dunst, Ireland\u2019s Dara O\u2019Kearney, Anton Wigg, Niall Farrell, Jason Wheeler, and Steve O\u2019Dwyer, but unfortunately for them they fell before the \u00a31,020,000 prize pool was distributed.<\/p>\n

British pro Richard Kellet was the first player to bust inside the money, his 20th place netting him \u00a39,700. Others who had to make their way to the exits via the cashier\u2019s desk included Waheed Ashraf, Steven Warburton, former tennis ace Boris Becker, and one of the favourites for Caribbean Poker Party<\/a> glory Sam Trickett.<\/p>\n

Former Irish Open champion Ian Simpson reached the nine-handed final table, but was the first casualty at it when his jacks failed to improve against a pair of kings. Simpson was then joined on the sidelines by Germany\u2019s Manig Loeser, John Cynn, the legendary Barny Boatman, start-of-the-day chip leader Peter Roche, Simon Deadman, and rising star Benjamin Heath to leave only Blanco Oliver and Paul-Francois Tedeschi remaining in the hunt for the \u00a3250,000 top prize.<\/p>\n

It took more than an hour of one-on-one action for the tournament to be settled, with the final hand seeing Tedeschi all-in before the flop with and Blanco Oliver in a great position holding the dominating . Tedeschi\u2019s rail was screaming for the dealer to put a deuce on the board, but the five community cards fell to eliminate Tedeschi and leave Blanco to win the largest live tournament cash of his career to date and the Devilfish Cup trophy.<\/p>\n
