Two-hundred and sixty players bought into the \u20ac1,100 partypoker WPT National Ireland Main Event and after three days of action at the INEC Killarney, that field was reduced to a single play, Richard Lawlor the latest WPT National champion.<\/p>\n

The third and final day\u2019s play saw 14 players return to their seats, each of them guaranteed at least \u20ac3,750 for their efforts as the money bubble burst the previous day. The likes of the legendary Bob \u201cKilted Shark\u201d Tait<\/a> and partypoker qualifier Ian Simpson<\/a> bust late on Day 2 in 17th and 16th place, leaving Dara O\u2019Kearney and Jason Tompkins as the only online qualifiers in the field, although partypoker ambassadors Tony Dunst and Natalia Breviglieri were also among the final 14.<\/p>\n

Dunst fell in 14th place when Dave Masters opened to 35,000 at the 8,000\/16,000\/2,000a level, Dunst three-bet all-in for 250,000 with and Master snap-called with . No help arrived on the board, and Dunst was gone.<\/p>\n

Breviglieri then joined her partypoker team-mate on the sidelines. Having lost a large pot to Tadhg Ryan a few minutes previous, Breviglieri pushed her five big blind stack into the middle with and was up against the of Alan Kelleher. By the turn of the board, it looked like a chopped pot was on the cards, however, a king on the river improved Kelleher to a straight, and resigned Breviglieri to a 13th place finish.<\/p>\n

Daniel Tighe, Peter Murphy, and Gatis Cibulis each lost their stacks during the opening levels of Day 3 to leave only the final table of nine in the hunt for the \u20ac65,000 first place prize.<\/p>\n

Jason Tompkins was the final table\u2019s first casualty. Tompkins\u2019 lost to the of Kelleher despite catching a queen on the flop (an ace on the turn condemned Tompkins) before Tadhg Ryan lost a coinflip with versus David Masters\u2019 .<\/p>\n

Seventh-place went to Eric Doyle when a queen on the river meant his was cracked by the dominated of Masters, before a micro-stacked Larry Ryan crashed out in sixth place at the hands of Lawlor.<\/p>\n

Lawlor then sent Masters to the sidelines when his held against , then Dara O\u2019Kearney\u2019s couldn\u2019t get there against Lawlor\u2019s dominating .<\/p>\n

Three-handed play ended with the exit of Raymond Masters whose lost to the now seemingly unstoppable Lawlor\u2019s , leaving Lawlor to head into heads-up with Kelleher holding a 5,660,000 to 2,140,000 chip lead.<\/p>\n

It took 56 hands of one-on-one play to crown the champion, that champion being Lawlor. The final hand saw Kelleher all-in with to Lawlor\u2019s , and when the five community cards fell Lawlor had won all of the chips in play and became the WPT National Ireland champion.<\/p>\n
