Until this weekend, Jack Kent\u2019s Hendon Mob page showed live tournament winnings of only $408, but once the database is updated it will show $40,408 thanks to Kent taking down the Grand Prix Poker Tour (GPPT) Leeds Main Event for a massive $40,000.<\/p>\n

One-hundred and ninety-eight players returned to their seats at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon all looking to become the GPPT Leeds champion. Several hours later, this field was whittled to a much more manageable final table of nine, a final table that homed, among other, Nathan Farnaby, who you may recall won GPPT Newcastle a few weeks ago.<\/p>\n

Sadly for Farnaby, he was the first casualty of the final table, thus ending any hopes of back-to-back victories. Franaby\u2019s exit came when Daniel Oakley opened to 270,000 with , Farnaby three-bet all-in for just over 1,000,000 with , and Oakley called. Neither player improved on the board, and Farnaby was gone.<\/p>\n

James Redmond was the next to fall after a blind versus blind confrontation with Richard Evans. Redmond pushed all-in with [Ax][8x], Evans looked him up with [7x][7x], which held to send Redmond to the showers.<\/p>\n

The final table grew less shark infested with the elimination of Waheed \u201cWadey\u201d Ashraf in seventh place. Ashraf, a regular at Dusk Till Dawn, found himself all-in after a preflop raising war with Evans. Ashraf looked to be in great shape for a double-up, his up against . However, the board four-flushed, busting a disappointed Ashraf in seventh place.<\/p>\n

Sixth-place went to Fabiano Ozelame committed his stack from the button with and ran straight into the of Aaron Armstrong in the small blind. A final board reading didn\u2019t even hint at helping Ozelame.<\/p>\n

Next to fall was Daniel Oakley, who lost a coinflip with Armstrong. Oakley needed his to hold against Armstrong\u2019s , but he fell behind on the flop, stayed behind on the turn, and crashed out on the river.<\/p>\n

The first five-figure score was secured by Nigel Ventre who collected $12,000 for his fourth-place finish. Evans raised to 1,500,000, Ventre called all-in for 1,380,000, and Kent called, too. Evan made a continuation bet of 1,500,000 on the flop, Kent folded, meaning the cards of Evans () and the all-in Ventre () were revealed. Evans\u2019 hand remained the best on the turn and river to leave the tournament with only three players.<\/p>\n

Armstrong\u2019s elimination in third place sent the tournament to the heads-up stage. Armstrong limped from the small blind, and Evans checked. Both players checked the flop, with Armstrong leading for 1,000,000 on the turn. Evans moved all-in, and Armstrong called. Armstrong tabled and Evans the . The river was the and Armstrong was gone.<\/p>\n

Heads-up began with Kent trailing Evans by 6,200,000 to 28,800,000 chips, but won the early confrontations and sailed into the lead. The final hand saw Kent open to 1,800,000, Evans shove for 6,000,000 and Kent call. Kent flipped over , Evans and when the five community cards fell it was game over for Evans and glory for Kent.<\/p>\n
