{"id":38756,"date":"2014-11-19T13:06:13","date_gmt":"2014-11-19T12:06:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/?p=38756"},"modified":"2021-06-28T14:57:39","modified_gmt":"2021-06-28T14:57:39","slug":"adrian-mateos-claims-early-lead-2014-partypoker-wpt-uk-main-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/adrian-mateos-claims-early-lead-2014-partypoker-wpt-uk-main-event.html","title":{"rendered":"Adrian Mateos Claims Early Lead in the 2014 partypoker WPT UK Main Event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When <strong>Adrian Mateos<\/strong> was only 19 years of age, he won the 2013 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event for a cool \u20ac1,000,000 and he has now given himself a realistic chance of adding a coveted World Poker Tour (WPT) title to his name after finishing Day 1a of the 2014 partypoker WPT UK Main Event as the chip leader.<\/p>\n<p>Mateos, a Spanish pro, flew under the radar for much of Day 1a, but was catapulted into the limelight and the top of the chip counts after coming out unscathed from a three-way all-in confrontation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emran Hussain<\/strong> raised to 1,200 from early position with <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/qc.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/qh.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> and Mateos three-bet to 3,200 from the button with <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/as.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/ad.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\">. The action passed to <strong>Sergi Reixach<\/strong> on the button and he four-bet all-in for 14,000 in total, not knowing that his <img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/kh.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/handy-cards\/cards\/ks.gif\" class=\"handy-cards\" width=\"25\" height=\"15\"> was soon to become an expensive second-best hand.<\/p>\n<p>Hussain tanked for a couple of minutes before moving all-in and Mateos snap-called with his aces. A total of 50 players exchanged \u00a36,000 for the chance of WPT glory, creating a \u00a3300,000 prize pool as they did so.<\/p>\n<p>The likes of <strong>Toby Lewis<\/strong>, <strong>Craig McCorkell<\/strong>, <strong>David Vamplew<\/strong>, <strong>Oliver Price<\/strong> and <strong>Stephen Chidwick<\/strong> all made it through to the second day&#8217;s play, but fell short of the money place \u2013 Chidwick finishing in seventh place and was the unfortunate soul to burst the money bubble.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dhru Patel<\/strong> was the first player to secure some money for his efforts in the High Roller, busting sixth for an \u00a318,000 score.
