And inside the casino, there were Royal Flush girls, Vince Van Patten, <strong>Tony Dunst (who recently won the\u00a0World Poker Tour Caribbean Main Event For $145,000)<\/strong>, and some killer poker.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Main Event Numbers Smashed!<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>As the main event got underway on Saturday, the final numbers for the total players for the three events was cause for some celebration in the ballroom of the casino. 1610 players made their way into the three events, smashing the previous record of just over 1200 .<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Sold Out!<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The first event, an $1100 buy-in, was not unlike a Bruce Springsteen concert in New Jersey: SOLD RIGHT OUT.\u00a0 That created a great payday for the eventual winner, the red hot Mike \u2018GoLeafsGo\u2019 Leah, who took first for $118,982, a home turf win for the Canadian pro.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Smells Like Syrup<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Event #2, the $2500 buy-in was also a big field, with 578 players battling for the win. Another pro, Pratyush Buddiga, came out on top, and he received a healthy $243,714 in Canadian dollars. And yes, if you scratch Canadian money it DOES smell like maple syrup. And for Prat, it also smells like victory.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>First Prize Looking Pretty Sweet&#8230;<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Main Event was the big ticket, though, and 383 players coughed up the $5K buy-in to take a shot at the $363,197 first prize. The field is littered with big names like <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/top-poker-player-twitter-handles-that-you-need-to-be-following.html\">Mike \u2018Timex\u2019 McDonald<\/a><\/strong>, Shannon Shorr, Vanessa Selbst, and the already richer Mike Leah. And, as always, a great group of players who qualified on partypoker are in the mix, including players who made their way from poker\u2019s newest hotbed, New Jersey.\u00a0It certainly was a triumphant return to Niagara for the World Poker Tour, and it looks like it\u2019s going to continue. There were many rumours floating of even bigger things for next year, and talk of even further improvements to an already successful event.<\/p>\n<p>In the vernacular of the famous comedy sketch: \u201cNiagara Falls: Slowly, I turn: Step by step\u201d.
