When John Gudger<\/strong> won a seat to the partypoker World Poker Tour National UK Milton Keynes Main Event for the paltry sum of $3 he had no idea he would be turning it into \u00a312,750, but that is exactly what he has done.<\/p>\n

Gudger outlasted a strong field of 292 players at The Casino MK in Milton Keynes to walk away with the \u00a312,750, a trophy and the title of WPT National champion, which is something that is priceless.<\/p>\n

The nine-handed final table kicked off slightly after 3:00pm on Sunday afternoon and took an hour for the first player to be eliminated. That dubious honour went to Sunil Mistri<\/strong> who busted when he called Liam Pettman<\/strong>\u2019s all-in bet from the cutoff with and found himself up against . Mistri took the lead on the flop but the turn and river improved Pettman to a flush and resigned Mistri to a ninth place finish.<\/p>\n

Next to go was one of the two partypoker qualifiers David Phetean<\/strong> who never recovered from a costly mistake where he accidently called an all-in against Lee Kiat<\/strong>. He bust a couple of hands later jamming into the of Richard Jwanczuk<\/strong> to finish in eighth place.<\/p>\n

An hour later and Pettman crashed out of the tournament in a cruel fashion. Pettman was trying to accumulate chips when he moved all-in for 218,000 from under-the-gun and was looked up by Jwanczuk in the big blind. Pettman flipped over and needed to hit as Jwanczuk held . Pettman did hit the flop and stayed ahead on the turn. However, the river was the which improved Jwanczuk to a straight and sent Pettman to the rail earlier than he would have liked or planned.<\/p>\n

Six became five when Jwanczuk lost a massive coinflip to our eventual champion, Gudger. Jwanczuk was all-in and at risk with and failed to connect with the board and lost to that had turned into a full house.<\/p>\n

Another 60-minutes played out before Andrew Brisland<\/strong> lost his chips to Kiat in a battle of the short stacks. Kiat moved all in with what turned out to be and Brisland made the call with a pair of black fives. Kiat missed the flop but paired his queen on the turn and his ace on the river, Brisland crashed out in fifth place.<\/p>\n

Four-handed played spanned almost two hours and saw the chip lead swap hands a number of times. Fourth place went to Kiat who got his stack into the middle with and Michael Rosaman<\/strong> called with and was rewarded with a nine on the turn and an ace on the river.<\/p>\n

Rosaman was the next casualty at the final table, jamming all-in from the button with and first finding a caller in Sam Goodman<\/strong> in the small blind. Goodman quickly folded when Gudger re-shoved from the big blind. Gudger revealed the and when the board ran out it was game over for Rosaman.<\/p>\n

Heads-up was over almost as quickly as it had started. Gudger held an almost 2-to-1 chip lead and won a couple of pots early on to extend that lead. The final hand saw Gudger check-call a 200,000 bet on a flop and then both players checked the turn. The river was the and Goodman moved all-in. Gudger said: \u201cI think I\u2019ll call,\u201d and did just that, discovering that his was good because Goodman had made a move with !<\/p>\n
