Somehow after 84 hands all eight players are still in this heat. The blinds are now 6,000 – 12,000 ante 2,000. There are just 200 big blinds in play now, of course they aren’t spread evenly. Look below to see who’s in the penthouse and who’s close to being in the outhouse. The players chip stacks are as below. The +\/- figure in brackets is their profit\/loss since the end of the last level and the big blind figure is how many they have for the current level.<\/p>\n

Good level for<\/h3>\n

Talal Shakerchi<\/strong> It’s been good level, bad level, good level for the British businessmen, but he’s bounced back in fine style to take the chip lead. He hasn’t done it but playing texas hold’em<\/a> either, in one particular hand against Phil Laak he defended out of position with 9-4 and then led on a K-7-8 flop and forced Laak to give it up.<\/p>\n

Bad level for<\/h3>\n

Jason Mercier<\/strong> The man many touted as the favourite in this group is in real trouble in this heat and is down to just xx big blinds. He got a little unfortunate to only finish fourth in the first heat, but if he were to pick up the bagel in heat two he’d be really up against it.<\/p>\n

Hand of the level<\/h3>\n

Talal Shakerchi showed yet again that he’s not going to pushed around and that he’s not someone to mess with.<\/p>\n

Pre-flop Mercier made it 16,000 to go on the button with and Shakerchi called from the small blind with . On the flop, Mercier c-bet and Shakerchi check-called. “He’s called that bet knowing he’s going to have to fold to almost any turn card if Jason bets again,” said Jesse May.<\/p>\n

Turn: , “Almost any turn card,” said May. First to act Shakerchi led for 25,000, Mercier made it 64,000, after some thought Shakerchi moved all-in and Mercier folded.<\/p>\n

“I think Jason’s put him on a nine,” said Toby Lewis, “he’s raised so he can move in on a lot of rivers and make Talal fold a nine, so he’s just got Talal’s range a little wrong.”<\/p>\n

“This feels like one of those nights where anything can happen,” Jesse May on the delicate nature of the heat.<\/p>\n
