Let’s Wrap Up Day 1c.<\/h3>\n

The last of the three starting days has come to an end. We saw 273 entries on Day 1c, 135 of them managed to survive and bag their chips.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow they’ll be joined by the 54 survivors of Day 1a and 91 of Day 1b. That’s a total of 280 players to start into Day 2 at 1pm CET. Almost exactly half of the 567 entries.<\/p>\n

Several well known players have made it through Day 1c, Michael ‘Timex’ McDonald, Bertrand Grospellier and Fabrice Soulier being only some of them. Timex had a good run during the last levels, building up towards one of the top stacks.<\/p>\n

As always we’re waiting for the official chip counts to come in. Could take up to two hours before they’re available, so don’t get impatient.<\/p>\n

The Power Of Quads.<\/h3>\n

153 players take their seat to play one more level on Day 1c. Blinds are at 400\/800 with ante 100, the average stack is 51,000 chips deep.<\/p>\n

One of the last hands before the break saw eliminate two players. On the flop all the chips go into the middle (starting with those of Davidi Kitai). When all the cards are on the table, it’s quite obvious that only a runner runner miracle could take the hand out of Philippe Narboni’s control.<\/p>\n

There’s free food and drinks in the PartyPoker Lounge for our players on a daily basis. But tomorrow night there’s the real party going on. Everyone is invited, we start at 10pm. Not too many details here but it’s going to be a blast!<\/p>\n

Tamer Kamel Eliminated In a Huge Pot.<\/h3>\n

Join us on the flop. There’s around 8,000 chips in the pot and on the board. After two checks it’s Swede Emil Mattsson in last position who bets out 5,000. Tamer Kamel in the Small Blind and Robin Christoffer Ylitalo calls and the three of them see the on the turn.<\/p>\n

Again it’s checked to Emil who bets out 25,000 \u2026 either that’s it or we’ll get a monsterpot. Tamer goes for it and puts his 45,000 chips in the middle. Too much for Mr. Ylitalo, but Emil pays the extra 20k.<\/p>\n

Although Tamer shows a set of queens, Emil has several outs with . It isn’t the flush that gets there, but the river completes a straight and sends Tamer to the rail.<\/p>\n

Mario Nakowitz Building Up.<\/h3>\n

Austrian player Mario Nakowitz took a nice chunk out of Prezemyslaw Piotrowski’s stack. We got the action on the river and board , when Mario raised his opponents 6,500 bet to 16,000. And that was the end of this hand and post.<\/p>\n

Mario is up to almost 70,000 in chips.<\/p>\n

Add One More.<\/h3>\n

It wasn’t even a last minute entry. It literally happened seconds before play resumed after dinnerbreak. Bertrand \u201eElkY\u201c Grospellier showed up and took a seat. So take the number mentioned below and add one. The final number is now 273 entries on Day 1c (total 567).<\/p>\n

Back From The Dinnerbreak.<\/h3>\n

Players are still on break but will return any moment. Blinds are now at 250\/500 ante 50.<\/p>\n

Late registration is now closed so the final numbers are in. 272 players entered Day 1c. Adding the 115 on Day 1a and 179 on Day 1b we have a total of 566 players. So we didn’t quite get as many as last year, when the WPT Prague saw 571 entries. It was close though, so no hard feelings.<\/p>\n

It has been a busy Day 1c so far. 211 players will take their seat after dinnerbreak. And the last three levels of the day will bring us much more of that action. Remember, less than half of the field survived Day 1a. It won’t be as extreme tonight, but many players will have to bury their WPT dreams before Day 1c ends.<\/p>\n

It’s Always The River.<\/h3>\n

It was Niklas Astedt from Sweden, who lost a semi-big pot against Romanian player Zhiping Zeng after an unlucky river card.<\/p>\n

It was Zhiping who closed the preflop aggressiveness with his 4-bet. On a flop he bet out 3,200 and got called by Niklas. Both check the turn and the dealer puts down on the river.<\/p>\n

Again it’s Zhiping betting out, this time for 8,000. Niklas looks him up and just shakes his head after seeing Zhiping’s .<\/p>\n

Indoor Skydiving With PartyPoker.<\/h3>\n

There’s an advantage to multiple starting days. Every player has at least one day off. So PartyPoker took the whole team to give players an experience they won’t forget: indoor skydiving.<\/p>\n

If you’ve never heard of it, here’s what basically happens: you put on a special suit (and helmet) and walk into a tube. Air is blown from underneath you at such a speed, you start floating. Sounds fun? It is! Andras Fekete kindly enough sent us a picture from his phone.<\/p>\n

\"Indoor<\/p>\n

Feature Table Action.<\/h3>\n

We just witnessed another bust at the feature table. It was German player Andreas Wagner, who had to leave his seat.<\/p>\n

We joined the action on the river, the board showing [3][4][T][2][7]. Andreas moved all in for his last 15-20k, Daniel Colman to his left didn’t take a second to call.<\/p>\n

Event though he hadn’t a monster holding for top pair, his hand could beat Andreas’ pocket sixes.<\/p>\n

Feature Table.<\/h3>\n

One of the most interesting tables in the room has just been relocated. Not the table itself, but the players sitting there. They’re playing it out under the spotlights now.<\/p>\n

Michael McDonald is probably the most notable player at the idea. The shortstack belongs to Dan Smith, who just lost a big hand against Milan Joksic.<\/p>\n

After Dan opened the cutoff, Milan pops it up to 2,900 from the small blind. Dan 4-bets to 5,900, Milan moves all-in and Dan calls. It was kings for Milan, who left Dan with 3,000 chips after he couldn’t improve his .<\/p>\n

Four Levels Down.<\/h3>\n

Players enjoy another 15-minutes break, before returning with blinds 150\/300 and running ante 25.<\/p>\n

As for now 262 players sat down on Day 1c of the WPT Prague Main Event. With late registration still open we’re fairly sure that we’ll reach last years number of 571 entries. As for now the total is 556.<\/p>\n

Take Back The Extended Late Registration.<\/h3>\n

If you were thinking about coming here because of the extended late registration, unpack your suitcase. The decision has been taken back (fortunately, for the sake of the WPT integrity). So it’s back to the initial plan. Late registration closes today after six levels.<\/p>\n

That’s A Muck, Sir.<\/h3>\n

Happens in every event. Someone mucking their winning hand<\/strong><\/a>. This time it was Romanian player Dorin Rauta who lost his whole stack due to his own mistake. In an all in situation on the river he threw his cards face down towards the dealer straight into the muck. By tournament rules, the hand is considered dead at that point.<\/p>\n

Apparently he mucked a straight that would have given him the winning hand and a big pot.<\/p>\n

Late Registration Extended.<\/h3>\n

Due to weather issues in some European countries there’s a couple of players who can’t make it to Prague in time. Therefor the following decision was made: the late registration will be extended until noon tomorrow.<\/p>\n

Meaning that you can actually buy in straight into Day 2. Although it’s called ‘late registration’ it might even be a re-entry possibility.<\/p>\n

Once again we’d like to remind you about our WPT Prague Final Table freeroll on PartyPoker<\/strong><\/a>. Kickoff is Sunday, the 9th December 2012, while we’re blogging about the final table in Prague. There’s a $500 prizepool, all you need is the password.<\/p>\n

The password will be announced at some point here on the blog and probably on Facebook<\/a><\/strong> and Twitter<\/a><\/strong>. So stay tuned.<\/p>\n

By the way, this time the Final Table Live Stream will feature two events in one day. It’s not only Prague, the final table at the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic in Las Vegas will be played out on the same day.<\/p>\n

Best Not To Come Late.<\/h3>\n

Happens at every event. There’s the late registration and the usual suspects decide to turn up late. We’ve played two levels here in Prague, so it’s really not that late yet.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless the new tables in the tournament area seem tougher than the rest. Look at table 27. It’s not just Mike ‘Timex’ McDonald. At the same table Milan Joksic, Besim Hot, Thomas M\u00fchl\u00f6cker, Andreas Wagner (a German who had multiple success in Czech Republic’s casinos in 2012), Daniel Colman and Besim Hot.<\/p>\n

What’s on TV?<\/h3>\n

Watching various tv series seems to be a popular pastime at the poker tables. Since the iPad started it’s triumphal march the tournament areas have turned into video broadcast.<\/p>\n

So what are people actually watching?<\/p>\n

During the WSOP Main Event, Amatos Gomila grinded through all seasons of Breaking Bad. His new project: Homeland.<\/p>\n

French pro Thibaud\tGuenegou is fully concentrated on Downton Abbey. Not sure if he’s watching it in English or if there’s actually a French dubbed version.
\nDefinately English<\/p>\n

Fabrice Soulier’s choice is a little more ambitious. He’s watching what looks like a documentary on mayan culture. Is he afraid that the world is going to end on December 21st?<\/p>\n

Then there’s The Office (US version) on Niklas Mikael Astedt’s iPad. I’m fairly sure that one isn’t dubbed.<\/p>\n

The WPT Main Event Freeroll.<\/h3>\n

We told you about it on Day 1a. Whoever busted on the first starting day, got an invitation into a freeroll that played out yesterday. One out of eleven players in that freeroll would get a \u20ac3,300 ticket to buy themself back into the WPT Main Event.<\/p>\n

For some reason only 38 people showed interest in said freeroll. That meant three packages were given away, here are the lucky winners:<\/p>\n

\nRocco Palumbo, Italy
\nDimitry Zhukov, Czech Republic<\/p>\n

You should recognize at least one of them. Rocco Palumbo won Event #44 at the 2012 WSOP for more than $460,000. Talking about the rich getting richer \u2026<\/p>\n

Shuffle Up and Deal.<\/h3>\n

Here we go. After 115 players on Day 1a and 179 on Day 1b we expect that number to be higher once more. 2011 saw a total 571 entries (new European WPT record). We basically need 178 players today to break that record. If you ask me that won’t be a problem, we may get as many as 250 entries on Day 1c.<\/p>\n

PartyPoker Players Running Good So Far.<\/h3>\n

Have a look at yesterday’s chipcounts<\/a>. There are several PartyPoker and bwin players sitting at the top of the field.<\/p>\n

We have German player Alexander\tSt\u00e4ngle in 2nd place, followed by Polish artist and star Wojciech\t“Wozzo” Lozowski and Fabian Quoss (another German) in 5th and 6th place. A total of 93 out of 179 players survived Day 1b.<\/p>\n

If you listened to yesterday’s interview with Wozzo, you’ll know that it was the first big tournament he ever attended. He did exceptionally well, building up his big stack after the dinnerbreak.
