However when the WPT rolled into Atlantic City Ben obviously played his heart out, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/back-staking.html\"><strong>Tony G would say he had the commitment<\/strong><\/a>. And so with over 1100 runners he managed to crush one of the largest fields in World Poker Tour history to become the newest WPT Borgata Poker Open champion.<\/p>\n<h3>A Quick Double Up<\/h3>\n<p>Ben managed to double up through the only amateur player Matthew Burnitz, he quickly went on to eliminate Tyler Patterson making it heads-up.<\/p>\n<h3>Then On To Heads Up<\/h3>\n<p>And after only 30 hands of play Hamnett, a professional from Pittsburgh, defeated his oponent Burnitz taking home $818,000 in prize money, his name on the WPT Champions which of course would sit next to past winners like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.partypoker.com\/blog\/en\/negreanu-isildur-rocky-drago.html\"><strong>Negreanu, Rajkumar, and Oboodi.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>I played my best<\/h3>\n<p>After his win Ben was quoted as saying <em><strong>\u201cI\u2019m glad I played my best. That\u2019s the most I could hope for. I\u2019m glad I got lucky, and I\u2019m glad it all worked out,\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Final Table Pay-Outs<\/h3>\n<p>1.
