The biggest tournament to take place in years \u2013 the main event of the WSOP 2012<\/a> \u2013 has begun. Last year there was a cool $8.6 million up for grabs and it was my fellow German Pius Heinz who won it. I came in 266th. Not bad considering there were 6,800 players. I want to do better this year though \u2013 because I am better this year. I\u2019ve been really happy with my performance in the last few tournaments and have come away with five cashes. I\u2019m playing well and I\u2019ll soon be on top of my game.<\/p>\n

Chip Hunting<\/h3>\n

The first few days of the tournament is all about gathering chips. Then I\u2019ll just have to see what I can do. To be honest, I think I\u2019ve been pretty far out in front in the games in these fields, but I have to remain realistic. After all, there are 6,800 players to beat here. But then again it\u2019s important to be confident about your chances of winning. And my chances here are good.<\/p>\n

I really hope Pius does well again this year. As for me, I really hope I win. Oh yes, and before I forget \u2212 many happy returns to my grandmother! She\u2019s going to turn 80 this coming week. A big hello to you, Gran!<\/p>\n

Bowling with the PartyPoker and Mike Sexton<\/h3>\n

So what else is going on? The day before yesterday I went bowling with the PartyPoker qualifiers and Mike Sexton.<\/a> It was one of my few evenings off here. In the last eight weeks, I\u2019ve only been partying once. Otherwise I\u2019ve just been playing poker. Sounds stressful and I guess it was to a certain extent. But it\u2019s not like I have to play \u2013 I play because I want to.<\/p>\n
